Engine warning Light On!?
#1
I noticed while driving this evening the orange engine warning light has come on. It is on constantly.
I have a MY02 WRX.
Can't find the manual at moment to diagnose the problem.
Is it still safe to drive?
My nearest subaru dealer is 25 miles away!
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

turn the car on and off 4 times (i.e. start it, switch it right off and remove key, repeat x4)
If the light has gone off, then the fault was a one off (e.g misfire) it is safe to drive to a dealer.
If the light stays on the problem is continuous, probably worth calling the dealer who may suggest getting it trailered in.
NOTE : THIS IS WHAT i HAVE BEEN TOLD IN THE PAST. THE 4X ON AND OFF WORKED FOR ME AND WAS DIAGNOSED AT THE DEALER AS A SENSOR THAT MISSED A BEAT. I AM NOT A QUALIFIED SUBARU TECHNICIAN SO DON'T BLAME ME IF IT ALL GOES WRONG.

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure its not the 'Warning Ugly Car About' light?
Does it drive ok? If so it should be ok to take to the dealers - it would go into Limp-Home Mode if there was a real problem

Seems to drive ok. No loss of power or any strange noises etc.
It did happen once before shortly after I bought it and it turned out to be a faulty sensor!
Can never be to careful though.
Knowing my luck I will drive it to the dealer and the engine will blow up:-)
