Just seen a MY02 for £19995. Will cost £4500 to £5000 approx to swap from my MY02+PPP.

What do you think guys, Swap or wait a year and buy an STI8?

I'd wait mate. Yours has already taken a massive hit in depreciation... Although the cars are about the same age, and the original difference in price was over 5k...

Tough one. Sounds fair on the face of it now I come to think about it... But will you be wanting to change again next year?

It is tough isn't it. I'm not looking to change actively but saw it and thought HHmmmmmm (maybe). Sure mine has taken a big hit but so has this car so they kind of cancel themselves out.

I think I'm just trying to talk myself into it (my missus will go spare if I swapped again)

Question

Is there anything you dislike about your current car?

Would the STI fix those things?

What else could you do with a spare 5 grand? (I have some suggestions...)

The short answer is I would like a bit more speed and have looked at a decat and a few exterior mods like rear spoiler etc. Really need to keep warranty though so not done anything about the decat. This would seem like a good alternative solution.

I love my car and my only criticism is a little bit too much roll in the corners.

IMHO, STi7 basic probably isn't worth it over MY02/PPP. STi7/PPP, however, is a different matter. Sounds a bit like you're trying to talk your way into it, to be honest. But, take it from me, STi7/PPP is awesome - and I don't feel any inclination whatever to change mine for an STi8/PPP.

Sorry to make life more difficult!

Phil
