Got some quotes before, Supra Twin Turbo - 4.9 to 60 = £2400
Impreza Turbo 5.8 to 60, £3,300

What to go for?

Depends - do you want a RWD GT or a 4WD B-road rally car? The two cars simply aren't comparable.

Supra is faster, Scoob will be easier to drive quickly in most weather conditions. Scoob will let you do stupid manoeuvres then pull you you out of trouble, Supra will bite you on the ****, punch you in the face, then throw you into a hedge if you try to take the ****.

You obviously prefer the scooby, otherwise you wouldn't be posting on here!

Durrrrrrrrrrr, so i missed the point completely, i thought those prices were the price of the cars not the insurance, hence my post. I'm off to get my coat

20 with no ncb. thats for third party aswell. Looking at £6000 for fully comp for them both! What a rip off.

Impreza, £3,300 through my dad, or £4,000 fully comp for my own insurance.

Supra, £2,700 third party only, or £6,000 fully comp on my insurance.

Hope you've got a well paid job, there's no way I'd pay that much unless I was stinking rich.

Would you not be better off running a hot hatch and get some NCB while at the same time saving some cash to run the thing. I assume you are fully up to speed on the running costs?

Supra has virtually no back seat or boot space.... on the other hand you can mod it to very high bhp.
Supra feels more sporty inside - good low down seat feels like a cockpit. Subaru is ultimately a saloon car no matter what bits are stuck on it. Supra can get quite laggy if you start modding and its quite large/heavy - Impreza is more nimble. I suppose 4wd vs 2wd is the big Qu though - that's just personal preference.

Edited to change salon for saloon

Get a Fiesta and get a couple of years ncb.
Once youve bought a car like this youve got to run it, neither of these cars will do much over 20mpg and both will cost a fortune to service.
Its your money but one day you will want to buy a house and realise youve got a great big financial burden round your neck called a fast car...that is unless youve got a very well paid job in which case go for either.
Guess i sound like a dad but thats probably because im old enough to be your dad.

UK Supra's are about half the cost to insure as the imports and there aren't many UK Supra's about and the ones that are about are big money.

I'm thinking Supra = easy to crash. With 3rd party insurance only, you have to be ready to lose the price of the car into the hedge one day...

There is a reason the costs are high on both...

Get yourself a nice hot hatch, for that money get a new saxo VTS with a years free insurance, after the years up you can expect a 60% discount (4 years NCB)then get a supra / impreza. As long as you dont stuff the saxo into a hedge that is

Cool

I am looking at upgrading from my UK turbo 200 scooby towards the end of year & asked question similar & also stalked the Supra BBS's.
Bottom line is Supras r the most tunable engine u can wish 2 have but finding the better spec'd UK turbo Supra (strange the UK is better spec than JDM ) especially with manual 6 speed as they r as rare os rocking horse ****.
However rear wheel drive & apauling traction control make for really bad handling on twisties
So supra will urinate all over scoob at top end but 0-60 the typre R STi jap scoob has a 0-60 of 4.5 sex or so & being 4 wheel drive etc is da daddy in the wet & twisties
So if u wana loose yer license using supra best then is a gr8 car with more BHP available than ever needed but has totally different strengths 2 the scoob
Alternative is R32 GTR skyline if u can put up with dated looks (IMO) but 4 me i'm guna go the type R scoob way

NB u will get better quotes than that if u aint bin naughty as i started on standard UK scoob at age of 24 (2years no claims garage, etc) & that was only £1400 or so.
Off top of head best insurers try:
Direct line/privilege
Liverpool victoria (currently with these) they r great with mods etc
Tesco also get good quotes & posts on here
& there's a few other & plenty of threads here but try those & u shud get better result unless yer an x drunk driver with no garage parked in middle of london

PS interior much better on supra n all i do luv the way it all angles towards u but while i luv it i find it hard 2 justify a luvly interior over the ability 2 get away with driving like a retard & not stuffing it in2 a hedge/lampost etc lol

Unhappy

right,

both cars are totally different, i had a modified scoob and now i own a modified supra.A scoob is very good if you like driving fast in the rain - Supra is good for going very very fast-example spending 5-6K on a Supra i got around 430bhp.Spend the same amount of money on a scoob and you will get over 320-330 bhp if you are lucky(always reliable).A supra's interior is simply awesome! and with a racelogic traction control you will be having some fun at any weather condition (respect it at the wet though with this sort of power).I wish i had spent all that money which i spent on my subaru on my supra.I would easily have 600
