I sold my 1998 V4 STi a week ago to some bloke who saw the advert in AutoTrader.....guess what....a week later its for sale in another magazine & it has suddenly become an STi5 registered in 1999 !
Not only that but it has suddenly gained 40BHP via a "Stage 1&2 Engine Upgrade" & has also now got an "upgraded clutch"
Plus he is using the picture I used to advertise it !

Keep on your toes guys !

Question

Why don't you phone him and ask what he's playing at?

Or the police if you don't want to get involved, although i imagine they can't do a lot about what is only false advertising at this stage.

This sort of stuff makes me mad.

You can dob him into the trading standards people, or alernatively contact the magazines advertising department.

Then if that doesn't work go around his house and......

Trading Standards should help here. They will investigate and if found he guilty he will be looking at a fine.

hmm... surely u have the details of the buyer.

*lightbulb on* report the car as stolen just to get some back.

but honestly, u sold the car and got the money so what happens after that shouldnt worry you. onus will be on propective buyer to check before buying right?

i do feel the unfair-ness of this false advert but as they say, law protects the unscrupulous. sad but true...

The car being sold has my registration on it.
I spoke to a guy yesterday from the board who said he had spoken to the seller & was told that even though its an R plate its actually an S registration - which is complete rubbish.
Alarm bells rang then he called me as he had seen it for sale on the BBS & couldn't understand the difference in spec.

RoShamBo

If he's around the Woking area, I'll get in contact with him and pretend I'm interested. As another scooby owner, it would be easy for me to say that there's no additional power (or ask for a graph to proove it) and the clutch is standard.

What do you reckon?

I could also scare the pants off him in the test drive!!!!

Its in AutoTrader this week - on the web & I believe the magazine. Plus somewhere else I believe.

Scooby Snacks - think he is from Essex somewhere so I wouldn't waste any petrol on him - but like the idea !

Seen it in Autotrader as follows, but it doesn't show the additional bhp or change of registration letter

Snacks

The advert has changed since yesterday.
I took a screenshot of the advert yesterday & it reads ....
"Subaru Impreza STi5. S Reg 42000 miles. T&T Stage 1&2 Upgrade to 340bhp...blah blah blah ...upgraded clutch blah blah blah"

The advert today is different wording - ie correct now

I will send you an email
