Advice on ecutek please for my01
#1
any one had this mod? at the mo i'm running a my01 wrx with down middle & rear system, itg filter & forge dump, i reckon about 230-240 bhp? i am considering a big investment & gettting the up pipe & the ecutek from power engineering or scoobysport, they reckon anything up to 280/290 could be achievable, has anyone gone down this route & is it worth it, torque? 0-60 much difference etc?
thanks

Same route I am going, and many others. With a sub-6 second 0-60 anyway, you are hard pushed to get much lower due to the old laws of diminishing returns...what it will give in abundance is absolute driveability and STi-humbling torque in every gear, esp mated to the 5 spd box. Scoobysport are claiming the standard cars max torque level at 2200RPM!!!!! And best of all, the Ecutek keeps all the important ECU routines like cold-start fueling etc so reliability and general running are unaffected.

so i wouldnt drastically improve my 0-60 but the power(torque) would be greatly boosted? are the 280/290 bhp figures fair, will i be amaxed at the power boost? for the money i should be......

For 650 quid you are adding more bhp and torque than a full exhaust system...can you complain at that???
And chrisp...re-read his post, his warranty is already gone with those mods anyway.

I know of someone with the Ecutek and decat exhaust who did 0-60 runs timed on a GPS device, and averaged ~4.7secs. IIRC he also got ~12.2 0-100. This was before he fitted the up-pipe, so was only about 265bhp at the time. 0-60 is mainly down to how much you're prepared to kill the clutch/gearbox on launch.
Mine with ecutek (from power engineering), ported headers, up-pipe and APS sports cat exhaust gave 284bhp and very wide torque band. Far from a subtle difference!
