as title, what is the highest bhp in uk, and how easy would it be to have say 400bhp,

as the cossies can get 350-400 without spending to much money,

your thoughts please

Question

Anyone know how much would it cost to get a safe and reliable 400bhp out of a cossie staring from a 224bhp escort cossie ? no guesses though as I want parts listed and prices and there are guys/girls who read this and will know from the parts list .

Just interested as this has been said for years. Co55ie posted a 9.5K engine rebuild (on the biggest bill thread) does that count as cheap and average becuase it doesnt sound that cheap IMHO.

Just interested and finally put this one to bed, and while we are at how much for a safe and reliable 400bhp EVO (again starting from as normal 276bhp cooking model) as that cant be cheap either, just look how much more the xtreme model is

I just think a lot is folk law but I would be interested to know from guys ang girls who have done it. IMHO I think its expensive in any car starting with less than 300bhp just cheaper in some than others, but cheap can be relative as 10K is cheaper than 10.5K .

for 9k you'd have a vrey reliable 500bhp engine, maybe more.

400 not sure but i'm going for stage 3 which is about 300-350

new t34 turbo 620
500 inntercooler 350
greens 60 each(4)
3bar 60
breather 100
actuator 60
filter 80
exhaust 400ish

at the moment i run filter, exhaust, actuator 14psi and i get 282, well did 2 weeks ago.

i've probably missed some parts though

Estimated 460bhp+ / 420ftlbs+

I run 1.8bar of boost, however, on PE, could only hold 1.4bar which gave an impressive 407bhp / 384ftlbs.

It will be interesting to see what I get when I borrow Andy F's AP22 Logging Device - can't wait.

I think you guys will find the fastest scoob is by Rigloi racing in Australia which clocked a 1/4 mile in under 10 secs. Apparently many US companies are affeliated with Rigli Racing and use there recipe to gain 500bhp scoobs. And anyway, i think UK tuners have been involved in the Impreza turbo/sti a lot longer than the yanks have.

Gez
Ps: Rumour has it some1 who posts on this board is going to reveal their 600bhp monster within the next couple of months.

There's a clutch of 500hp cars in the making at the moment. I DO NOT want to get into the "prove it" or "believe it when I see it" arguments, all good things come to those who wait.

I think by the summer there will be at least half a dozen 500+hp cars. Cost is prohibitive at the moment, but I've seen it drop in the past 6 months alone, mainly through a lot of the work done by people working on engines at the moment. The availability of parts required has increased as people have gone to trouble of importing or manufacturing them to suit as required.

There was a thread titled "2.5 engine build" or something quite recently (past month) do a search and see what you find.

Unichip only 10Bhp! that suprises me.

I had my old (less of the old, thank you) MY92 WRX unichiped and the BHP went up 30BHP and the torque went up by about 50 lb/ft, and that was on 95 RON.

The UK seems to lagging a bit behind in the Cosworth tuning statkes at the mo...

The Scandinavians are taking a different route with tubular exhaust manifolds and redesigned inlet plenuims and are regularly topping 700bhp. Cheeky fondue eating foreigners...

I know (and so do several on here) of a car that has been running round the UK for over a year now with over 500bhp, but everybody respects his wishes and doesn't shout about it. It does go to prove though that it can be done. And NO I won't say who it is.

worth noting the US horses are actually 20% smaller than ours. We use din standard for bhp they use SAE.

fact of the matter is, there are many more tuners been doing cossies for a hell of a lot longer than scoobies, therefore prices are cheaper,....

i reckon you wouldnt have had much change out of 15k :0 to get a cossie at 400 horse in the early days...

as time moves on and more peeps start tuning scoobies, prices will come down...inevitable (spelling)

just spent 4k ish, on spec r polished stuff and a reliable 350 for ma cos.....but i betit would be much much more for the same in a scoob

lmfao......a friend of mine owns one of the uk top 4 cossise with a bhp of 576!! thats faster than most cossies out there, he had a lot done though and fine tuning! it was even featured on men and motors!!!

as for chipping cars, i know alot about! a uni chip is better than a super chip(which needs to be upgraded for each mod!) where a uni chip doesnt and car can be run off home computer with windows 98! and it makes the engine work at its best! and increases the bhp! by 10bhp!lol
