Wink

having had my MY00 UK Turbo a few month i was starting to think it felt a bit flat and i wanted something faster and more powerful, wasnt sure wether to sell my UK Turbo and spend another 8k'ish to buy a MY00 P1 OR spend that cash on mods instead.

i went for the mods and after only a fraction of the amount needed to buy a P1 i got a more powerful car then a P1 and loads left to improve it further.

induction kit, full decat and TEK2 remap = 284bhp/272torque @ PowerEngineering last week (227bhp/ton)

done some P1 / STI stlying too

reckon i did the right thing???

Probably The styling of the three door is to die for, but they cost too much.

P.s - Lose the Tango styling, fast

Looks nice, but it isnt a p1,and resale value your ltd to someone
who wants it modded.
Whereas a p1 is more exspensive but will always have a higher resale value.
Thats my thoughts anyway

Triple X, thought about a Type R too, but wanted to stick to UK scoobys, and no more than 3 year old.

Question

Peccy, do you know what boost the car ran at on the rollers? Those are impressive figures, and I just wondered.

The other Tek2 runners I've come across have got no-where near that on the rollers at PE.

Scott W, Mervyn at PE remapped it to hold 1.2BAR, although on the road in 4th and 5th its slightly more than that. also a nice smooth torque curve too, ill upload the power plot later.

so just with a full decat, induction kit and remap you can get a faster UK Classic than a P1?

Thats cool - as I really do feel that my MY99 feels really lardy!

Excactly, looks like a P1, its simple you get a four door and try to make it look like a coupe, mmmmmmmmmm Never will it be as fast as a P1 with a full de cat mine is putting out 300+, but power is nothing without control and those boys at prodrive dont **** about.Let us all not forget theses cars are still the best I know because I have had the rest, and let us not forget they are and were the most expensive. The value of theses cars are now reversing and starting to climb back, so hang for a classic.

GATSO, i wasnt trying to look like a P1 coupe, its just that prodrive know there styling stuff, so i used their wheels and front spoiler and choice of colour too, the main issue i had was cost, once i have spent the remainder of the 8k on handling , control, braking etc, and a few more horses i reckoned i would have a better all round car then a p1 for the money spent (apart from exlusitivity? factor) for a car the same age too.

obviously you can improve the P1 also, but i didnt have the dosh to buy one AND mod it too.

wanna sell me your P1 badge

peccy, nice job, im doing similar thing to my my00,( p1 lip, de-cat already and brake upgrade going on this weekend). next on the list is tek 2 at PE, i'd like to know how different it feels after the re-map, is the pull more in the seat or just smoother etc.

dave.

the remap transformed the car, pulls better in all gears, pulls right to the redline and smooth delivery all through the rev range, 4th gear now feels like 3rd used to etc.

my standard plot figures were 226bhp/228torque
with decat 258/238
then with remap and induction kit 284/272!

Looks very good peccy, and surprisingly good figures;D
FB

PS mind you I've got sympathy with Mickle's views as well...
(P1, SS decat, HKS,3port boost solenoid, uprated fuel pump, big brakes, suspension bits and bobs, oh, and and Tek 3 by BRD. Lighter? not sure about that.Quicker? Very sure about that )
