Hi guys,

Thinking about possibly running my JDM STi-7 agains't a JDM EVO 7 down at the 1/8 and 1/4 mile track.

Does anyone know the weight, bhp and torque of the JDM EVO 7 ?

I am pretty sure he will take me in a straight line; however, will it be closer if his is 100% stock and I have a full ScoobySport decat from turbo back ?

I assume on a track he would waste me ?

Cheers,
Ray

Answered a few of my own questions:

JDM EVO 7: 1,400 KG, 276 bhp, 282 ft. lbs. @ 3,500 rpms

JDM STI-7: 1,430 KG, 276 bhp, 275 ft. lbs. @ 4,000 rpms

Pretty darn close in a straight line I would imagine; however, possible advantage to the STi-7 due to shorter ratio 6 speed gear box which would be better suited for staight line acceleration ?

Why is it so much better on the track, the AYC of the EVO ?

Also, does anyone have a bhp and torque curve of both these cars, perhaps the torque curve is a lot better on the EVO.

Cheers,
Ray

Razor,
If it helps a while ago ( last year )evo ( car mag ) did a feature on the 2.
I am not 100% sure but I think they were both lightly modded i.e ( exhaust / air filter ) etc.
The outcome if I'm right was that the Mitsi was 0.1/sec quicker to 60 but the Scoob was quicker to 100 mph.
If both cars are std there will be sod all in it, if yours is modded i.e full decat etc I would put my money on the Scoob.
You should be running on a 1/4 mile around the 13's maybe quicker depending on your car sympathy.

Hope this helps some how.

Let us know how you get on.

Good Luck.

Arron.

Thanks Aaron, appreciate the insight. I will keep you guys informed. Race may not be for a couple of weeks. They are making the track wider as it is to narrow for some of the big boys. There is a small little Toyota ? Starlet with tyres as bis as the car that does a 1/4 in 8.50 secs around 160 mph. It has a garret 80 or something turbo that needs a shot of NOS to spool it off the line

Cheers,
Ray

Forgot to say.

I did a 1/4 mile in my STI 7 UK car last year and was running against 2 mate's in there STI 1 & 2 with full de-cat and induction kits and bleed valves.
The STI 1 & 2 are lighter than my STI 7 which was a std car apart from a Prodrive back box and K & N element filter and I was the quickest down the strip so the gearing will certainly play a big part in the out come.

Very interesting Arron. Do you know if the STI 1 and 2 come with stock 275 bhp as standard vs. your 265 bhp UK STi-7 ? If so, and with a full decat, induction and lighter weight then the gearing must play a very big role.

Razor,
All 3 of us did a rolling road day last year the results were:-

STANDARD
STI 1 240 BHP
STI 2 260 BHP
STI 7 265 BHP

STI 1 Full de-cat and induction kit. 294 BHP and 270 1lb torque.

STI 2 Full de-cat and induction kit and bleed valve ( not sure at what setting ). 293 BHP and 271 1lb torque.

My STI 7 UK centre de-cat only and Prodrive B/B + element filter. 281 BHP and 270 1lb torque.

To answer your question yes the gearing will make a difference.

On the 1/4 mile run I was flat out in 4 th where my 2 friends were flat out in 3 rd we were all about to change up just over the finish line.
In Auto car magazine they test a std Uk STI 7 in decembers issue the results were:-

0-60 4.9 sec
0-100 13.5 sec
Standing 1/4 13.7 @ 101 mph.

I don't know how accurate these times are but it gives you some sort of comparison.

I have got a graph somewhere of the gear ratios for the UK Sti 7, if I car find them I'll post on here for you.

Thanks Arron for all the information, very much appreciated. The figures for the JDM sound very high, he must have had a remapp with that surely ?

Ray,I'll think on a straight sprint you'll find them neck and neck. With your decat you might just take it.Where the Evo 7 has it is the response and in gear flexibility,as standard miles ahead of the STi7(sorry to say).Torque curve of STi7 is appalling.
Arron the guy you are talking about with 337BHP was spiking 1.7bar boost at the time and running an APS induction kit that made the MAF under read by 25%.Not safe power.337 BHP is not unobtainable with a remap though.I hope to be running 350 BHP soon.

Razor,
As far as I am aware he has had NO remap just the full de-cat and ind kit.
