Alright folks here’s the chance of a lifetime! My friend Peter Thornton is offering the chance for someone to navigate for him on the forthcoming Malcolm Wilson rally in his newly acquired Group N WRX STi Version 6 Impreza.
Peter has been rallying at National championship for about 15 years and recently won class N3 two years out of three in the Mintex championship. This is his home event in the Lake District and he would like someone to sample the thrills of blasting through the forests. The event has around 45 stage miles and includes two stages in the famous Grizedale forest, stages previously used on the RAC rally.
To have the chance of a lifetime, we are looking to auction off the job for the day, to the highest bidder. No previous experience is needed. All you will need is a competition navigators license (we can help with getting this), the ability to be in Cockermouth, Cumbria on the weekend of 7th, 8th and 9th March 2003 and not to get travel sick! Accommodation for two people will be provided.
The format of this auction will be simple. Bidding will start at £250. Bids and contact details will be sent offline to me, Mark Fisher, at markwrx@tiscali.co.uk, (not to any other email address I may have) before the closing date of Friday 21st February 2003. Online bids to either thread WILL NOT be accepted.
The highest current bid will be posted each day on the bulletin boards, but no names will be given. You may bid as many times as you wish.
After the closing date, I will contact the highest bidder and verify that they still wish to take part. We will then arrange for payment to be made and the final details arranged. An announcement will then be made on the bulletin boards.
Right, now for the important part. It is suggested that the winner of this competition takes out their own personal accident cover for this event. We will ask for an indemnity form to be signed relieving us of any liability if, heaven forbid, an accident occurs. Don’t forget motorsport can be dangerous, it is your own risk.
All safety clothing will be provided unless you have your own which meets the current legislation.
This auction has been verified by the Webmasters of Scoobynet and the SIDC (posts on both sites). A report and pictures will be sent for publication in True Grip and also for posting on the internet. A release to the local press will also be made.
So if you fancy this amazing offer, mail me now. Good Luck!

Mark - I think you're right. I'd more than happy give you £250 for this. I'm not sure there is much point in bidding as there are probably countless people more ready to put their cash down. Most people will think the same and therefore not bother.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that the guy who was building our car had his own car and all his tools etc nicked the other week, this project is now not going to happen. It is just physically impossible to get the car built in time. Maybe later in the year....sorry.
