Mods - please leave here til Thursday night. Getting my sus done on Friday and may opt for a q-shift too but not sure which.

Hiya Edcase.
Sorry i missed the Surrey Meet, didnt get round to showing you my Raly tech spoiler.
Anyway, there are 3 decent quickshifts out there. These being:
1. B+M quickshift (direct replacement & cheap, Mattel & Fulham both have this & feels great)
2. Subura Prodrive quickshift (very expensive + works differently to the B+M (Dr-Evil has this so he'll be able to answer any Q's) you can get this through TSL + many others.
3. The cheaper version of the B+M made by J W Racing, but is just as effective. (Depending on whether your a brand person). However, never tried this myself so would personally recommend the B+M or Prodrive.

Hmmm, B&M sounds good. Silly question but I read rumours that they increase wear on the gearbox. Will using a non-Prodrive shift invalidate my gearbox warranty?

I've got the BRD Quickshift its approx a further 25% less throw than the STI item which is in turn shorter than the Prodrive one.

TBMeech - I thought the BRD one was 30%(to 35%) shorter throw than the OE MY'00 shift, where as the Prodrive(or rather STi) QS is only 25% shorter than the OE MY'00.. not an extra 20% shorter... could just be a vicious rumour thou

MATTeL has the B&M QS fitted to his tank , er, MY'01, its definitely shorter than the Prodrive/STi offering and is less fiddly to fit. It is also a lot cheaper. TBH you won't notice that big a difference fitting the PD/STi QS to your WRX, I ran one on the WRX I had prior to the GX, and although it was shorter, the bugeyed models has a slightly shorter shift anyway as standard (so I was told, different to the pre '01). The only thing I would say in favour of the PD/STi offering, is that it feels less clunky/notchy than the B&M. But never the less, if it were me, I probably fit the B&M to a WRX, as makes the shifts that much shorter, which can't be a bad thing! 
As for wear n tear, dunno, Paul @ TSL would be the best person to ask or at least one of them.

i was advised the jw version, and i ain't bothered about brand names, unless the quality is affected.

JWRacing = 117.50 for MY93,
B&M = 158 including a billet gearknob.
I'm probs gonna get the B&M as I'm at TSL tomorrow so get it fitted while I wait etc.

Only ever driven my own MY02 WRX and had a Prodrive QS kit fitted from new.
All I can say is it's the best gearchange of the 12+ cars I've owned - smooth, quick and sweet. A joy to change gear! Makes the other cars I drive in the family feel like real puddin' stirrers.
Whichever you go for I think you will be pleased with the driving results.

Got the B&M on me MY97 & it is extreme in terms of how much movement it takes 2 change gear as in just a twitch & i changed gear which is wot i wanted & it feels boss & looks gr8 when combined with nitosport **** & surround

Still undecided about the exhaust. To be honest, I'm a bit shaken up about lofi and his warranty woes with a non-standard centre and rear, so I'm waiting to see the result / trying to decide whether to trash the warranty. I'm not one of these 'endless quest for power' types, but I just dont think PPP will be enough, and I don't like piggyback chips.

Yep i'll be at the next meet. Was up at the other halfs parent last time.
Well i got the HKS Hiper with a decat centre & backbox & havnt had any problems with warranty. Had a service & nothing was said. Guiess it depends who you take it to as well.
Would you be interested in a set of HID components for your morrette?? Im trying to get a group buy together at the mo.
