Many a dig is made at us scots for having cobwebs in the old wallets. However, I've noticed something of late that may be of interest.
In all my scoobynet days I've yet to see someone post a faster UK 1/4 mile time than Andy F. I've seen some big power claims from down south but as yet no confirmation of pod performance. On that basis, until proven otherwise, it seems Andy F has the fastest Impreza in the UK and he lives in scotland.
On the saxosportsclub the fastest known of Saxo is a guy called Matt from Glasgow who has a 250+bhp supercharged VTS (currently beign rebuilt). He's been at Crail a few times (its the white one with the white alloys) and has yet to prove its abilities with a blistering time but its regarded as the most powerful saxo in the UK.
Two marques both with the most powerful cars in UK being based in scotland. So, are we more enthusistic or do we (dare I say it) spend more money on our cars...........which probably explains whey we can't afford to get the pints in
Thoughts? Where are the most powerful EVOs, Corsas, Novas, etc based

Good point Kenny...
We have John Banks reprogramming ECU's and doing things to his car that he was never going to do when I first met him..
Sam and his last Scooby and now his Evo...
Who said us Scots where tight?....

Dont forget the ecosse pugs. They've gotta be well up there power wise. And the Scottish bloke who wrote GTA with the 1200 hp Jun Skyline (though last i heard he was trying to sell it for 50K)
As for Evos, I think Simon Norris has the most quickest evo in the counrty.

Dunno, if there is something in it, but when I had a 13 second 5GTT I knew guys in Scotland who were getting better times with similar spec cars at crail than I was at Santa Pod.
Dont know if it is the colder air, or something in the water but cars do seem to be quicker oooop Norf!

Crail's timing was shoddy in the old days. I believe that the current set up is top notch and andy got 11.8 from memory. He's got even more power since then and is working on 'something new' I for one am looking forward to the 'something new'
Craig H said in chat last night that his best time was 12.1.

Most powerful skyline in the UK isn't Dave Jones Jun R33 (which incidentally he's selling for under £40k now), which probably has circa 900bhp (not 1200).
AFAIK Project X will be more powerful and southern owned I'm afraid!
Similar what are the most powerful evos? Simon Norris' Evo 5 has 586bhp doesn't it? (english again) But afaik its not the most powerful evo in the UK...
Anyway I'd say that Japan & Australia are much further ahead than the Scots and English!

In my defence
My times were done when temp was around 32 degrees.
At lower temps times would've improved. But these times were at just under 1.5 bar.
It was quicker running 1.8 bar but was never officially timed therefore AndyF times are better
Dunno and don't care whether Andys car is quicker than mine was - there's always someone faster than you. (do care that the b'strd did it for considerably less than me tho )
Mine was shinier tho
Only way would've been to do a head to head and that'll never happen. Gut feeling is that Andy would have been slightly quicker.
Car's aren't quicker in Scotland - the peole that make them are - is a case of fiddling with cars or fiddling with an Aberdeen Angus - and a few decide to stick with cars

You may have faster cars but you also eat haggis, have **** weather, get fuel surge under cornering, have the worlds worse accent and like wearing womens clothes.
Simon.
P.S. And worst of all you cant even beat the Pharoah Islands at football
