Noisier = Slower. Which is a good thing !

After 80000m of quiet refinement in Audis I went back to a classic Impreza earlier this year for some fun.
After 20000m in a 99MY I reckon I drive it slower than the Audis overall (and one of those had 290lb/ft torque)
Here's the point:
To stand any chance of keeping your licence if you do plenty of motorway driving, buy a Classic Impreza.
Why? : Because you can tell what speed you are doing.
80-90 in Scooby is about as loud as 120/125 in the last Audi - seriously. This is a GOOD thing.
So, ditch your refined WRX's and Germanic wunderwagens, buy a better headunit to mask some of the road noise out and yawn as another Passat Tdi blats past you on the motorway at over 100 and 40 mpg.
Subaru Impreza - Licence protection device ?

Interesting point - I'm into my second week of Scooby WRX owner ship (02 with PPP) and find that the noise is more noticeable at lower speeds and evens out on the motorway with just a deep'ish rumble heard under the stereo.
Slightly loader exhaust note from it than my previous car (Golf 4Motion) but less wind noise so it seems about the same to me (although still running it in so haven't ventured passed the legal 70MPH, officer, much).
