I'm used to getting about 200-220 and yesterday went to Feltham and back (From Nottingham) sat in loads of stop start traffic on the M1 and the M25 wern't much better. I'd have thought all the stopping and starting would have mullered fuel cosumption.
I know that motorway driving off boost uses next to no fuel, but that's steady progress, this was stop 2 mins, move 30 meters at sub 10 mph and stop again then move of upto 60mph for half a mile and repeat.
Not complaining by the way, just impressed that the old girl has suprised me once again
Only saw 3 scoobs aswell 1 of them was a P1 heading North on the M1, outside lane, standard exhaust, larging it, ON THE BLOODY PHONE
Mikey
And I don't want anyone coming on here and telling me that me car is shagged cos it ain't. All running fine, with me decat and dawes and itg etc. MY00 37,500miles

Dang! You beat me My record is 325 with 60% motorway, 20% b road and 20% town.
Lets put that in perspective Next to no fuel for a scooby but it still it at a fair old rate!!
By the way: Stop bragging, you come on here making out like your better than us all and you some sort of ace driver cause you can get good fuel economy. I think you need a shrink and to deal with your issues and insecurity
I think a decat improves fuel economy

Saxo, consider me shrunk
Image, is there really? How would you know that
Am i right in saying, apart from the motorway barges on here, 200-220 miles per tank is about right from brimming to orange light coming on?

Well done Mikey, just one mile off my best (actually the only time I saw more than 225 miles from a tank) 339 miles on one journey sitting as close to 56 as possible, most boring journey imaginable.
BTW, normal was about 180miles from brimmed to fuel light, although did see a lot less now and then

329 to a tank - 250ish was motorway and a roads. Rest was the 5 mile trip in to work. Could have stretched it a little further as the fuel light had only just come on.
Was weird as I didnt specifically try for it - sometimes on the motorway I stick to 70mph or less so the turbo doesnt kick in. Usually lasts for about 15 mins or until a bimmer driver overtakes me.
One day whilst travelling to my parents in Cornwall (330 miles away) I will see what I can get using sub 3k revs.
Simon.

Last week recorded 375 miles between fill-ups & even then it wasn't on orange 11.3 gallons went in...
I would have to admit to being in granny mode but it was sticking to the exact posted limits (GPS verified) at the max possible & mainly dual or m/way. I was also using the boost guage to keep off-boost as much as possible ( bar a couple of moments )
ATM doing around the 30mpg mark regularly...
I have got to say that the A14 is worse than the M11 for accidents & hold-ups & that is probably contributing

What the f... am I doing wrong then. Most ive ever ever ever had is 290 miles on a tank, and the light was on and the needle into vapours only zone. And this is on an NA sport!! Something strange of you guys can get over 300 out of a tank.
Maybe it the yellow paint, creating the little known notaste drag coefficient to increase.

I regularly get 280 to a tank (60 Litre) every week. 99MY turbo 5Dr with an Ecotek valve fitted.
No worries - no motorway either...to and from work, rural A roads then nightmare traffic and it gets a hoofing occasionally as well!
As to the people who get into the low one hundreds I can't even imagine how you drive it ...ever thought about taking the handbrake off? LOL
P.s (for post above) A Sport only has a 50 Litre tank

For example once warmed up, I rev mine (when possible) to at least 4.5-5K in each gear, the acceleration is just too addictive to resist

170 miles average out of 40 ish litres in an STI7,but then so what! I dont do monster milage, if I did it would be a diesel I guess.
I never run it right down to the bottom of the tank as I dont think its a great idea especially reading some of the recent posts here.
