extended warranty worth it ?
#1
the warranty is out on my turbo on the 1 dec.it is 3 years old then.the dealer in inverness (i stay near elgin)is offering to extend the warranty for £266 for 1 year or £400 for 2 years. the car is totally standard, not planning any mods.the car has only done 22500 miles,i would only do about 7000 miles in a year.is it worth paying for the new car extended warranty( from main dealer)?any thoughts on the matter would be a help.i am thinking of going for the 1 year deal
thanks

The warranty would probably be toast if you did mod it anyway. It's like any insurance, a waste if you never use it. Personally I'd pay the extra money as if something does go wrong it will probably cost more than that to fix it.

Agreed - it'd bad luck to have anything go wrong with such low miles. Just remember to stick to the service schedule - especially the cambelt!

I asked the same question about a month ago. Do I or don't I ?
A lot said "waste of money", but most said "do it". Mine cost just under £300 and is a 'Subaru Used Approved Warranty' not the extended warranty that you can do at the end of 3 years. The one I've got covers all the major engine, gearbox, electrical and 4 wheel drive parts, but not items like exhausts, brakes and tyres.
The way I look it is .... £400 could be blown on a rear exhaust (some of you would say cool) but I think if you're not going to mod the car, then £400 is peace of mind for 2 years.
IMHO of course

Hi, are prices standard, I have been quoted over £400 for a subaru used car warranty. Mine ran out last December and after a couple of expenses so far this year, that would have been covered by warranty, I have decided to bite the bullit and buy one, but like I say £400. Does that sound right. Perhaps I should call around a little????

Speaking from experience on a FSSH 99MY, its well worth it.
Like any insurance a waste of money if you don't need it but
an incredible bargain if you do. (For me £327 for £2450)

i think i will go for one of the deals on the warranty.like some one said it is peace of mind for a time.i dare say it would not take long to work up a bill for £400.
kav, i have had many a good blast up the dallas road.it is my road for clearing out the car after the wife has been driving it for a while!
