I am looking for lots of advice on driving experience days. Need to know for Christmas gift Idea.
Can you provide information on the courses that you have tried. Let me know what it involved, was it good?, how much, etc.

Thanks very much in Advance.

Cool

I have just come back from doing the Bill Gwynne Rally day in the Impreza. I highly reccomend it, it was briliant!
A very friendly bunch of people, the instructor, Steve was very patient, and we got plenty of goes round the course, I'm just glad it was tyres round the outside, not trees! Loads of local accomodation, we stayed at the Premier Lodge.
Price £350, for this I got: in the morning 2x round with the instuctor driving, 2x 5 + 1x 3 circuits of the course me driving. Then Lunch (+ refreshments all day), then in the afternoon, 2x 4 circuits & 2x for final assesment. Then a presentation of your certificates, a bottle of bubbly for the most improved driver of the day, and a discussion on how you improved over the day, what you could improve on, etc.
I have really learnt a lot today, yes I'm tired & aching all over, but I really feel like I have acheived something aswell.

Also done the Bill Gwynne day, same comments as above. Suggest you book a mid week day as its quieter/more personal. Didnt win the bubbly though! An RS4 driver did!

They were doing in car videos of each drivers runs (well after 3rd/4th attempt) which were excellent quality

Ditto the above for Gwynne's.

Still peed off with the video though, as I can see exactly what I did wrong on the same corner time after time. It's so obvious when you see the vid. Just wish I'd seen that bit at luch. Still won the bubbly though

If I showed the most improvement, I must have be dire before

Cool

I have done a few of the Ian Taylor race days at Thruxton circuit, driven a Fomula Ford, Formula Renault, Boxter, F355 and 360 etc, great fun and with lots of good tuition on the circuit in lesser models plus a written assessment at the end of the day, great fun and good value IMHO, although not cheap, but a top Christmas present!

My hubby did the WHSmith driving experience in single seater Formula Ford in Rockingham oval circuit and was over the moon !!!!!!

Totaly great experience he said, adrenalin pumping, he said he felt like driving the realy F1.

It's good for spectators as well, very good viewing area just above the pits and with about 20 cars going around the noise pretty amazing

I think it cost him about 150 pounds.

If you want to really blow your mind try the Supercar Experience at Snetterton.

It's expensive (almost five hundred I think) but you get to drive a 355, 911, Esprit V8 and a Viper. And they let you drive them properly...

Rally gold - totally recommend it. Get to drive 5 diff cars on 4 diff surfaces - the whole day is one big buzz, and worth every penny.
Get to thrash a few cossies and an EVO 6 - load of fun when it not you own pride!!
