Im thinking of buying a Scooby?
#1
Hello people
At the mo I own a Stage 1 Cossie(the enemy..blah blah blah :P)
but Im toying with getting a Scooby...the thing is there seems to be just SO many different types, names, specs etc...
I spose im gonna want something either like mine(270 BHP)or faster, can anyone shed any light on wot I can get for about £6kish? like WRX or STi etc... as keep seeing them for sale cheapish...
Ive driven a normal scooby which seemed quickish, doesnt really have the same kinda punch as the Cossies, but ive also driven a P1 how mental are they?!? Well nice...
Some of them just sound SO nice, is it a particular exhaust that u fit to them to make them sound just like the WRC? as ive seen or more like heard some 4 dr scoobys sounding lush...
Any help of pointers much appreciated
Cheers

The following links may help:
Subaru Impreza Drivers Club
SIDC FAQ - explains the different models and common faults.
Impreza Web Owners Club - very comprehensive model guide
To see rolling road runs to highlight how much power is achievable from different modifications, have a look at Dynomite Scoobies
Japanese imports will give you more power out of the box (240-280bhp, compared to the UKs 208-215bhp), but you have to bear in mind they normally cost more to insure, Subaru dealers won't service them, you need to use at least Super Unleaded (ideally Super and Octane booster), and the shorter gearbox will mean you sit at 80mph@4000rpm (UK car 100mph@4000rpm!!!)
Common starting point are breathing mods, so a full de-cat along with a filter/air inductor.
You will see MYxx alot!! MY = Manufacture Year, so a MY99 (will mean a car that was manufactured between October 1998 to September 1999 or thereabouts!)
Hope this helps
