How Much Have YOU Spent on Modifications ?
And more importantly...was it worth it?
If you could go back would you have done it differently?
Just wondering...

Cool

Too much!
Yes!
No!

Full answers:
About £2000 on suspension, exhaust & brakes since I got the car in March. Mainly second hand stuff.
The car is much better, it handles better, sounds better and most importantly, stops better!
I'm really happy with the work I've had done, but there is still stuff to do. I reckon NOS is next (I watched the Fast and the Furious! ) and a chip!

Andrew - over £7000 in 1 year , definetly worth it. Only thing I would have done differently is paid for it all in copper, 1p's & 2p's ....the longer it takes the service guys to count, the more value for money I think I'm getting

Ditto Scott

If I could go back I would have done absolutely nothing as the performance and handling improvements are still, IMHO poor

Its taken up too much time and I've wasted too much money

I think if I could go back I'd get a second hand car with all the mods I had done for about £16-17k - about £25k less than I spent on the car plus mods! - not to mention the time cost

My car an sti5

Exhaust (several) - current BPM - too loud
Air Filter (3- inc Blitz/HKS and APS)
Ported headers
Forge Water tank and associated bits
AP 4 pots
Numerous Turbo's (inc VF22 hybrid)- £500 for failed VF22
Link and chip - £500+ For novice mapping by muppets
Modules galore
Front mounted intercooler
Suspension goodies galore
18 inch alloys
£k's spent on stereo

Do I need to go on

Hi,

I've spent around £5000 on my MY96 which considering I paid £8.5k for it a year ago is mad really.

Well pleased with the changes though. They've not all been performance mods,

I went mad on a Clifford alarm with Intellistart which allows you to start the car without the keys in the ignition and leave it running while still alarmed and immobilised (great for cold weather warm ups or turbo cool downs).

I've also gone for a MY00 interior which looks cool.

Also, 4pots, EBC discs + pads, braided hoses,
SO2s, Full decat with HKS Hiper, Blitz cone,
strutbrace, bleed valve, HKS FCD, Forge DV and loads of other cosmetic mods

I've totally got the bug now. Loads more planned for the future. I've got a lot of enjoyment and also learned a lot too!

Rich...

Not a bad price for that car.. even if it is a little slow a times, especially going up steep inclines

CraigH

Surely you meant that it was slower now?

My girlfriend has confirmed that my car is much slower than it was in standard trim.. You try and explain the concept of bigger turbo = more lag, but they dont listen and are of course correct.. Therefore my car and most others (naturally) is slow...

Anyway, when you gonna do some proper mods to the car like an erm.... 2.5 litre conversion....then we could all follow like a bunch of sheep. Not that the aps front mount is anything to go by

Talking

Managed to get an extra 20 bhp or so by pulling the mat down from behind the accelerator pedal

Cheapest and most effective mod so far!!

(don't laugh 'til you've checked )

Cool

About £16k

Replaced suspension with double wishbones all round, re rated springs and dampers

Re shell 4 door saloon with stiffened and lightened 2 door replacement. 200kg lighter to be precise

Bin crappy standard interior and replace with Recaro's and better quality dash materials

Bin undeliable flat four and replace with new engine putting out over 100bhp/liter naturally asperated unit

Was it worth it? dunno, kinda had no choice.

Car now more fun and handles better. Not quite as quick though.

Would I have done it differently? Not sure yet. Need more miles.

Geometry & Mintex 1155 pads £100
PPP £1763
Downpipe £250
Brakes £250
Stereo £700
K&N induction £80
Mats £50
Headlight protectors £40
Boost gauge £40

Total £3273

I have not included consumables just mods. In addition, just bought new Toyos £347 and need new front pads £60.

I would do it all again, but really I am finished now MY00 Euro import - so almost spent what I saved when you consider higher depreciation of import also.

I thought my MY00 + 17" wheels/tyres, PPP, Aircon, Prodrive spoiler, quickshift, Morrettes was enough, but it wasn't, so got a 22b

90 percent of the mods on the blackbeast were done prior to me getting it.

Guess I've spent about 500 - 1000 quid in mods, but we are talking about pads, discs, tyres, and braided hoses, so not too bad

would love to spend more though

Want to get 4-pots (or 6-pots) bigger wheels, at least 17" uprated rear brakes, downpipe, and if needed center pipe for that full decat feeling
ummm, link, cos I want one

so looking at about another 1000 - 2000 quid at least in the next 2 years!

have got the modding bug!
