I have a Uk Turbo which I want to change the back box on.

My only problem is which one?

I have been offered 3 choices by my Subaru dealer (my car is still under warranty)

1. Scoobysport Backbox

2. Prodrive Back Box

3. P1 Backbox

Could I have people's views who own one of these systems.

Which would my car benifit from the most?

Would the P1 Box make any difference?

I think I would like the scoobysport one but I have been told buy Subaru that if I have it fit it will void my warranty. Has anybody else been told this? Is anybody from scoobysport availbale for coment?

Thanks

Martyn

Thumbs down

Martyn,

Would void the warranty bunch or **** M8!

My dealer has SS systems sitting in the showroom waiting to go on cars as they sell em

Ask them again, I'd ask the monkey not the organ grinder

IMHO the Prodrive back box sounds the best, either the P1 or PPP version. While your at it, why not get the PPP

The back box on its own won't do much more than make a nice noise, maybe a few bhp more but nothing you'ld really notice.

Get the downpipe done aswell for an extra wide grin

Spoke to IM customer services with regards to the warranty implications and was told that any failure caused as a direct result of fitting non-genuine parts would not be covered. eg if a non genuine exhaust was fitted and an engine failure occured then the engine warranty would be void if they could prove the non genuine unit caused the failure.

A lot depends on the dealers though (interpretations of the rules). A dealer who supplies non genuine parts would probably look the other way in the event of a warranty claim but they are never going to admit that are they??

Besides if its only a backbox and things go pear shaped just bolt the genuine one back on (5 min job) and who is going to know??

Oh yeah i think the prodrive system (ppp) is great - quiet when you want it to be but all hell breaks loose above 3.5-4k rpm

If you are just going for a backbox then scoobysport is the way to go.

If you are looking at a backbox. Try TSL's Group N Silencer. I'm happy with it on a MY01.

Hate to appear stupid, but what are the differences between the P1 and Prodrive box ? Are they considered 'genuine' ?

Martyn,

Have the SS backbox on my 2000(MY) turbo, great noise plus great service from Scoobysport. Could be my imagination but I'm sure the engine seems more willing to rev right up to the redline now where as previously it seemed to run out of steam a bit at 5500. Downpipe will be next!

Paul.

Hi Martyn

Two points...

In five years of sales, there has never been one warranty claim turned down because the owner was using a Scoobysport backbox and almost 5,000 owners use this backbox.

Over 50% of Scoobysport's monthly backbox sales are direct into the Subaru dealer network.

The Backbox fitted to the P1 by Prodrive, is that the same Prodrive Backbox that I would have fitted by my Subaru Dealer?
