Bizarre competition going on in Singapore...
Straits Times story on Subaru Challenge
Latest I've seen is that it's down to 2 people and there's no breaks allowed any more - reminds me of the Japanese 'Endurance' show!
Simon.

I do love Singapore
They've always got something going on at one of the billion or so shopping malls. In 12 years of going there, I don't remember a single occasion when I haven't seen a car up for grabs somehwere.
Great stuff

They have a winner:
The Subaru Challenge came to a gripping end early Wednesday morning, with a winner declared 62 hours after the one-of-a-kind endurance test first started.
It was a contest where the last person left standing with his or her palm on a car, worth S$60,000, would walk away with it.
It came down to the home stretch on Tuesday night with the battle between two men.
The winner was an exhausted Mohamad Amat, who despite the lack of sleep, food and numb hands, still managed to keep a grip on his prize - a Subaru Impreza.
Losing out was an even more exhausted Zack Leong who eventually bowed out at about 3 am.

Hmm, that win-impreza looks decidedly dodgy No postal address (so breaking the distance selling act of 2000), no details on the promoter (whoever deals with games of chance would be interested), claims to be Impreza enthusiasts (who?)

Actually its illegal to 'sell' tickets for a prize draw, so topprize are breaking the law also, the gaming law was changed in fact to protect the national lottery, you can have a free prize draw (like the numerous ones on the web) or you can do what they do on TV and sting you for the price of a call to 'enter' the 'free' draw!

Nick,
Ah yes but they still 'charge' for a ticket when you have answered the question, but like you mention its all very obscure anyway, bet they dont actually 'have' a car, will wait until the pot is big enough and the draw is made before buying one.

Simon,
It's indeed an impressive place Singapore.
I love it out there, and the more you go, the more you find you've missed. I've been three times this year, and on every occasion have discovered things and places I didn't know existed.
Not to mention the fact that it's a boy's toys paradise
