Question

Had my car (MY00)just over 5 months..so far..

Clutch (for judder 22k)
Driver and Passenger windows (Scratched)
New Seat Back (Foam collapsed on bolster 21k)
Clutch Pedal Clicks (they cant find cause)
Hesitation (MAF)
Front Discs Knackered (to be done)

Seems I've suffered from every case of commons..anyone wanna add to the list?
Whats next

Despite the problems I still love it

I had a MY97 from new for 2.5 years and the only warranty claim was for the rewind mechanism on the radio cassette

My MY00 has had no warranty claims whatsoever and is now out of warranty in any case (Dutch Import). I'm just about to swap the front discs - for Group N ones at less than half the price of OEM Subaru ones

Cheers,

Ian.

Wink

On my P1 I've had.

Clutch - due to judder
Prodrive Disks, Pads & Front 18" Wheels - due to brake dust problems.

About to get me rear spoiler carbon fibre lip done because when the car went in for a repair, it was nice & shiny with a coat of lacquer. When I got the car back, it was down to raw carbon fibre.

Regards

Red face

Miss Warranty said she wouldn't do that for anyone, not even Kurt. I'd have to see Miss Whiplash for those things under her.

Cool

Got an MY95 with the new car warrantee (!)

Boot lock repaired/rewired (bearing in mind the car is 5yrs old!)

Relay replaced when the central locking wouldn't lock the boot. (due to a faulty/leaky rear light cluster!)

Apart from that, been A-OK!!!!

I've just (today) got mine back from the second attempt at fixing a problem with worn bearings in the gearbox. It's an MY00 dutch import, just out of warranty now, but Subaru Netherlands agreed to pay for it as I've had the problem since April.
Seems fine now. (Just driven 250 miles with a smile on my face!)

Ive had a new piston on My98 due to diesel taxi like sounds on start up, but i must admit i had no problem with the warranty and now the car is going like a rocket.
My old man had all his alloys on his Forester replaced on warrenty due to crazing under the lacquer. Again no Problem.
I guess these are not the sort of problems you want to find on such a well thought of car,but because of scooby net etc we all tend to hear about them. If the other manufacturers such as Mitsi, Peugot, Ford etc
had such a wide network of owners talking on the net im sure all their dirty washing would be more well publisised.

Lets face it chaps we've been done, all that JD Power talk of reliability and customer service, clutch judder, piston slap, squeaking interiors, inferior brakes, we have been landed with another pile of Jap crap, my last Ford was nowhere near as bad as this.

And for what, blistering performance, and great roadholding, is the trade off really worth it ?

I think I've suffered worse than most. P1 20k miles, has had:

Clutch replaced (judder)
5th gear crunch fixed
Front wheels and brake pads replaced due to excess dust from the big brakes/pads
Warped discs replaced

To be fair, all were replaced quickly & without question, but it's still a pain. Not sure whether to be cheesed off, especially since "Subaru reliability" was one reason I got the car, or glad that the parts are newer?

How about the mats being replaced and side carpet in the boot!

Seriously.

My MY01 has done 12k and is fine, though I am leaning on wood at the moment.

Actually I need to talk to them about the mats again!

On the reliability issue, I am not putting anyones problems down and I understand completely how upsetting they must be but Subaru haven't ever done a recall (on any of their range)... now lets think Ford, Rover, BMW, Mercedes, Mini, Renault, Citreon, etc.

Centre glove box cover

Alarm Fob and batteries

Countless door rubbers

Cigar Lighter, and housing

Full set of bulbs all around

Ongoing issues:-

Clutch Judder
Hesitation
Poor MPG, compared to when new
Down on power
Air Packed up
Engine very Lumpy (almost unbalanced)

I paid £22,500 for the car in Jan, and could get the same now for £19,000. Feel like I've been ripped off!!!!

Anyone got the number for Subaru UK ?

Cheers Phill C

On my MY00 sport special I have had the clutch due to judder.... that's it.... when it goes in for it's year old body check it's getting a new regulator (or something) for the passenger front window....

Other than that no probs except the passenger seat squeeks - going to WD40 it today

MY00 UK

Had 5th gear replaced under warranty.
(Popped out of gear a few times on long journeys.)

If it's happened to you, it's a known fault on some cars and must be sorted immediately.

P1: MY00 Wreg

Front bushes (twice - eventually I replaced them with poly bushes myself) <5K
New front bumper and spoiler (warped(!)) <5K
New rear spoiler top (paint) <5K
New front disks <5K
Stereo not fitted properly <5K
2nd set front disks <7.5K
New battery (always flat) <7.5K
complained about gearbox crunch 4th 5th (didn't notice it sir ) <5K
Complained of clutch judder when hot (they all do that sir) <7.5K
Creaking front suspension traced to wishbone bushes <7.5K
Steam in O/S front lights <7.5K... NFF (I'll wait until winter)
3rd set front disks <10K
New rear spoiler bottom (cracked) <20K
New rear spoiler top (Paint) <20K
Rear bumper loose <20K
New Clutch (Juddddddddder) <20K
Gearbox rebuild (4th/5th syncro + reverse)
Prodrive Mats (should have been with car as new, had to ask Subaru direct as dealers absolved responsibility)
Creaking clutch pedal (<20K)

I had to read this lot off the letters to the dealers, who have been singularly crap unless you write them a letter and back it up with IM directly, whilst chasing them on the phone. Don't even mention courtesy cars.

Compared to other dealerships I give Subaru where I live 2/10, especially when you compare them to the local Seat dealers (Croyde Motors). OK we only have a little L reg Ibiza for my wife, but they ring when they think the service is due (And they have got it spot on last 3 times) pick up the car and leave a *brand new* courtesy car then return the car in the evening cleaned, valeted and on time... The garage is 25 miles away. I don't care that they may be more expensive (I can't say I have ever checked or compared) that is real service...

I won't be buying another Subaru unless they produce something really spectacular, then I will buy an import and get it serviced by my Seat dealership...

...©

Edited to put in Croyde, who have been brilliant and make sure I didn't mention ****io dealership (it rhymes.... seriosly!)
