Do you mean the PPP'd car or the P1?
If you mean a uk turbo fitted with the PPP then your looking at 250bhp and 250lbs of torque, the P1 has 276bhp and around the same ammout of torque, if you check out

Had a quick look where you mention and it gets a few lines, but no mention of engine upgrades or exhausts, filters etc. so where does the extra power come from?

...but these are for new engines - ie expect a bit more when run in. With a downpipe, 270+ lbft is not unheard of.

These are also the figures quoted by Subaru in the UK300 brochure, but had mine run today and figures were 231bhp and 217lb/ft, needless to say i have allready queried this with my dealer. (MY01 PPP 8K) Anyone else had similar readings?

Depends on the year, but basically, a free(er) flow exhaust and a prodrive chip (remap), from what has been said it seems to raise the turbo boost a little.


And to answer the next question :

depends on year but anywhere between £1600 and £2000 and you need to go through a subaru dealer

PCB - depends on the rollers. Some read lower than others, and some read higher. Subaru's figures are from an engine dyno, rather than figures extrapolated from power at wheels figures which are unreliable I think it is fair to say.

It is your torque figure which is most disturbingly down on standard. I reckon you should get the dealer to take you out on a run with a Select Monitor plugged in and check that there are no fault codes, and in particular that the boost is doing what it should - i.e. if similar to MY00 PPP should be holding about 16PSI which is about 830mmHg - the unit of pressure that the Select Monitor measures in. Alternatively buy a boost gauge for £30 and fit it yourself to check - may be useful if you change anything in future to put it back on now and again.

I allready have a Defi boost gauge fitted. Peak is just under 1.3

Peak of 1.3 bar may be high enough to get dodgy boost control thereafter with a poor held boost. What does it hold after the peak and does it hold it smoothly or oscillate around. I am talking full throttle in 4th gear from 2500 rpm up - i.e by 4000rpm what boost is it settling on?

1.3 bar is about the point that boost control gets silly in MY00 PPP.

I believe it is the same on MY01 that there is a restrictor in the line from the manifold to the wastegate diaphragm. On my car, the original 1.2mm restrictor was too small and after PPP the boost built too quickly to about 1.3 bar and then went down and flicked all over the place. Corrected by nobbling a spare MY01 restrictor and drilling it out to 1.3mm. Peak boost then about 1.25bar, held about 1.15bar which was fine till I messed it up again by fitting a DP, but fine now again with 1.35mm restrictor! Which Rolling Road did you use ?

Ive had my UK300 on PS and PE. I also did a before and after at PE.

RESULTS FROM PE

Before PPP 2258bhp and 224lbft
After PPP 243bhp and 238lbft

RESULTS FROM PS

239bhp and 228lbft

I personally am not convinced that the PPP is giving 260lbft. I certainly did not get a 40 odd lbft boost with PPP. Ive already had my PPP checked out. It stacks up, like your will.

The other UK300 tested at PE on the last dyno day still gave 10lbft short of IM's claims, and that was after a FULL decat. However when run at the same time as other old shape PPP'd cars mine produced similar power.

I also find that it needs Optimax to run smoothly.

I might of kicked up more of a fuss, but only 8 weeks left to endure the car.

Used Powerstation, whom i have used before and have no reason to doubt the accuracy of their equipment. Once i have had some response from my dealer i will run the car again but also a couple of friends one with a MY01 PPP, and one with a MY01 + WR backbox are also going to run theirs for comparisons.
I'm not going to give up yet and want to get somewhere near the quoted figures before i'm happy.

Remember that quoted figures are only approx ones, you will never get 2 mass produced turbocharges to give exactly the same readings there are too many variables - who cares about 1 or 2 bhp / ftlbs different from the brochure anyway??

I care about figures when i get 217 lb/ft against a quoted 261 lb/ft especially when i have paid £1600 for the official mod. Thanks for your concern.

Did you get a smooth graph at PS ?. Mine took a dip in the power around 4,500, and then started climbing. It was the same with my P1 on there. However I never feel a dip on the road at 4,500. Guys at PS couldnt explain it on either of my two cars.

I had a mate with me for comparison on the same day at PS in an old shape MY00, with Scoobysport backbox.

My car was 30bhp up on him and 20lbft, so the PPP is doing something.

The boost you are getting is spot on, so not sure what they can do for you, as I was where you are 2 months ago asking the same questions. You might get your money back, but that is it. The performance you have is as good as it will get.
