How To Turn PTMW! Into A Monster
#1
Quietly minding my own business on my way into work on A1(M), came up behind a 7.5 tonner overtaking a 40 tonner, so start to overtake.
I'm doing 70, I'm not in a rush & I'm going faster than the 7.5, so I move into the clear o/side lane & commence to overtake. No cars for 400m behind like...
Merc comes right up my boot up at about 90 as I'm half way past & proceeds to flash me
Like "Where do I go, muppet?"
Queue "Brake Test"
Followed by moving into the centre lane after 7.5 had completed overtaking the 40, followed by dropping 2 cogs & chasing up the Mercs chuff & giving him the benefit of main-beam + spots
Made my point (?) and dropped back to previous calm & cruise mode.
Like what's the muppets problem? Wait 20 secs & I'd've been past the lorry & he could've continued on his way. Was I going to speed up just to let him past or what? Gah! How dare he disturb my karma with his impatience
I come off @ Peterborough & up Parkway. Notice him sitting in a queue of traffic on a slip road, so I pull up beside him, him busy reading a map & give him a hoot & a gesture. Then drive off.
So lucky for him I'm not the agressive sort, eh?
Still £ecked off with him even now... Must go make a coffee..
Muppet
So lessons to be learnt? Well don't react to muppets for one, then if you are the muppet, then don't put yourself in a position where the person you've just wound up finds you again.
Calmer Puff now...

I had much the same as you PTMW on the A3 this morning coming into work.
I came up the sliproad onto the A3 and pulled straight into the middle lane as I was quickly approaching a 7.5 tonne lorry. I then moved into the outside lane when it was clear and was continuously flashed by a Montego Estate that was about 30 metres behind me. As there is no way in the world that I inconvenienced him or forced him to brake, I slowed down a bit and checked to make sure I didn't have my rear fog lights on.
He then comes roaring up behind me and was giving me the w*nker sign and requesting that I pull over to the hard shoulder! Hello, what's your problem mate?? Anyway, I speeded up a little to get away from him before he gave me one up the backside, and naturally left him behind.
Was that enough for him to realise that I wasn't prepared to engage in polite conversation with him on the hard shoulder in the rain? Of course not, he then proceeds to undertake everyone on the middle and inside lane in a desperate bid to get in front of me!!! I can only assume he would have then tested his brakes hard so I hit him (fair enough, I'd rather have the insurance money than a Montego estate myself). Anyway, he got caught up and I didn't see him again.
Anyway rant over, but if the tw*t concerned is reading this (I admit highly unlikely), the next time you give me that much grief for doing nothing to upset you, I will be very happy to discuss any issues you have with me at the side of the road.
Oh, I and I did get your number plate, and I never forget!!

Why is it that so many people these days seem hellbent on getting from A to B in the shortest possible time and sod the consequences to anyone else who happens to be in their way.
It's just a pity that when these people do have an accident they have to take some por innocent person with them, and for what a journey time cut by all of 5 minutes

Puff,
Have you seen page 53 of Decembers Evo ?
You get a mention.... sort of ;-)
Maybe the guy couldnt slow down because his tyres were fitted the wrong way round, like those on the new Bentley GT !!!
An ongoing Problem with so called "Prestige Cars"
.....allegedly

So, someone behind you is driving like a **** so you...
Behave like a **** yourself, potentially provoking a road rage type incident...and then you brag about it on the net.
Nice one

There does seem to be a new trend towards driving, especially on r'bouts. Now when I took my test I was taught that you give way to the right and I assume that this is still the case? Not in the Hemel area it would seem! Everybody now seems to pull out regardless of whether there is space. They even look at you as if to say "Go on and hit me if you dare!" This is not only other cars, but I have even had fellow Scoobs do it to me!!

There is some sh!tty driving around at the moment. I've not had problems the "get out of my way" brigade, but rather the "I not getting out of your way" brigade. You know, the E-reg shed on wheels who's in the outside lane because they're too busy to check their mirrors (if they're not hanging down the side of the car on an old bit of sellotape). I'm not talking about people who have a genuine reason to be there (i.e. they're overtaking!), albeit overtaking somebody doing 65 at 75, when i want to be doing more. I just have to sit and wait patiently without flashing my lights or giving w@nker signs. It's called driving in traffic. Sounds like your Merc "friend" had missed that point.

Crock? How was it that Puff was provoking a road rage incident? Surely you mean the merc was?
I think these people who drive up your bum and flash etc etc should be careful. I've had several people like that (often BMW's, no offence to decnts bmw drivers) and, given my current state of mind, i'm more than happy to right of my car and kill myself if need be, as long as I can take them with me.
No, i'm not a nutter, I just don't care. So, i'd like to say to all those idiots (although they aint gonna read this), leave these nice scooby guys alone and pick on me, but only, and i mean only, if you have a deathwish.

Hey Scooby snacks
Wjy don't you report the montego t**t to the Police. I once asked a similar question of the I.A.M. when something of this nature happened to me a few years ago, and they spoke to the police, who said if something like this was reported to them then they would definitely follow it up. . . . .

Next time slow right down and pull in behind the wagon - if they want to get past you that much then abort your overtaking manouvre completely, then, as they pass you at the 40mph you have forced them down to, give them a nod, a smile and wave them by
