SCOOBYNET vs RSOC BBS
#1
i use both bbs, tho' i am an rs owner/driver,(may be one day a scooby owner as well) and i find it a ****e that i come over to scooby net to get away from all the bitchin that goes on on the RSOC only to find you lot bitchin right back, ffs all of ya grow up,that goes for both sides,
over the last few day, a few things have been thown out of context, again by both sides, so let's live and learn from this and be a little more sympathetic towards the the cause what ever it might be!!!!!
dont be offended with what i say,im just fed up with all the bichin that goes on,
cheers

Mods please don't lock this I am just looking for a good discussion.
I have been on scoobynet for a few months now, and I am sum what disturbed by recent threads, between both scoobynet and the rsoc bbs.
Whats the big deal here folks, were all petrolheads who whatever way you look at it own/admire a certain performance car/marque.
I can understand some healthy competition and tongue in cheek comments, but some of the recent stuff is getting too heavy
I could do nothing else than to wish anyone who was involved in an accident a speedy recovery, for someone who has their pride and joy nicked I would offer sympathy... etc etc.
Don't get me wrong I don't want to appear to be on a high horse or anything.
I am aware that sometimes that people who post on both boards have certain opinions but I would hate to see scoobynet who have just gone over the 19000 users (yes I know it's not a true figure of people who post, but all the same) jaded by the posts of the few, This is not 'having a go at anyone' it's just fact, and could probably be said for any other bbs.
It's just the shame that we judging and being judged by people who shout the loudest!
Hope that makes some sence.

My betting is that it'll take, oooh, 10 messages for this to get down to the level of a slanging match.
FWIW, my belief is that fundamentally there's a lot of similarities. We're petrol heads, after all.
There's been a lot of attention drawn to bad driving on scoobynet recently through one way or another, with the near prophetic prediction that "as November comes, so will the accidents". There's been warnings on scoobynet to take it easy, near misses and damn massive accidents.
I don't think that RSOC has had the same sort of discussions until the one that we know and love. Get well soon all, BTW.
The general vibe I get from Scoobynet is that such "accidents" are a misnomer: they're not an accident, as someone is at fault for driving too fast. I share this view. However, I think that finger-pointing, or jumping to conclusions is damaging and would cause a minor war on Scoobynet. When it's across BBS's, it turns into a flame war. Both the RSOC and Scoobynet are fiercely proud of their brand, and there's always been friendly banter. Unfortunately, some of that banter has got more serious and I can fully see why.
Hopefully everyone involved can just about understand why there's two different points of view, but it's very difficult to read something on a screen objectively with a calm outlook, particularly when it appears that someone is almost saying "you deserve to get injured for driving beyond your limits", which one one hand is possibly true, but is undoubtedly a harsh thing to say whilst someone is very ill in hospital.
We are all petrol heads with differing opinions. That makes life interesting , however the recent threads don't really do much for either BBS. Hopefully this will change for the better again very soon
Nick.

Nick, ten posts? blimey your optimistic!
It's rivavlry pure and simple. Same as us (Scooby and RS) taking mikey out of of nova boys.
I love cars, regardless of what marque. I do post on here and on RS bbs.
To be honest, if you're petty enough to start a flame war then you are rather silly. sorry, just my opinion.
Why can't we all be friends?
(((((( GROUP HUG ))))))

Hello Nick, was nice to meet you at the Buckles
I didnt see the thread, and tbh I dont care what happened or why. People didnt die as a result of whatever happened, so the rest is irrelevant to me. I dont know the parties involved, and they dont know me. Why it has to be carried on and on and on is beyond me.

For what it's worth, I'll second that. Am a scooby owner, I think it's a great car, but I have been lucky enough to encounter some awesome cosworths too (Mike Rainbird's 400 odd bhp monster springs to mind, for example). A little friendly banter is all fine, but don't take it too far.
The problem is that everyone has different percieved limits. What some people see as banter, some take seriously. Similarly, what some people see as safe but enthusiastic driving, others see as an accident waiting to happen. No-one on either board wants to go out and cause a crash deliberately, hence the term "accident". Perhaps we can all learn from each others mistakes and avoid causing a crash by pushing it too far.
In the meantime if any RS owners want to take me for a spin, I'll accept the offer and return the favour if they want a ride in a mildly modded bugeye.

How about we settle this with two champions picked from both boards who then have to fight in skimpy leather thongs in a no holds barred wrestling match where the winner is the first to say "I Quit"?
No?
ok, just a suggestion, however I feel I know where this thread is headed. I'll give you a clue.

The real enthusiats know what a both cossie and a scoob can do. Both good in their own ways. Anyone who dismisses either knopws nothign about cars . We all banter with the EVO boys as well but they do take it seriously . Again it what floats you boat. I have had a few local cossie owners flash and wave (well I think they were waving ) and I have waved back. For your own reasons you chose to drive the car you do but for me there is still a healthy respect for all high performance cars.

I own a scooby now but i've had a couple of cossies and I still miss my 4wd sapph
I'd have another cossie tommorrow and don't understand any bitchin between the two marques.
But it seems to me the 'stuff thats gone on recently is purely down to age old rivalry and territory battles (sccobynet and rsownersclub) or like some narrow minded people see it (us & them).
James (lover of turbocharged vehicles), Audi's though.......

Yeah good work tweenierob show em a proper car i've got a GTi-R as well as me scoob and love this car also. Supposed to sell it to pay off the loan I got to get the scoob but I can't do it!
Just wish I could have a combination of cos, scoob and gti-r, they all have their good and bad points.

Steve,
That's a great idea, as ot is a while away I think that somthing could be sorted
We at scooby net should used this day as a chance to do some 'bridge building' if any scoobys do decide to go on the stip against the RSOC it would only be polite to let them win

I've got dibs on Hybrid's (Jon or Chyvonne) Black RS Turbo from RSOC if thats the case.
edit: first race on the strip is on the 26th January according to the Santa Pod calender so we'll be there. I don't think I'll have problems with asking a few mates from the Carsurfer forum to come too.
