Unhappy

Just doin some general cleaning and realised my boot space sopping wet. With the rain we have had over last few days i have collected about an inch of water in the spare tyre well.
Never noticed it like that during the week so dont think its been there long.
I think its come in via the 2 spoiler bolts, but not 100%.

If in doubt check your boots guys, dont wanna leave it there too long.

We had the same problem a while ago. The back lights were not sealed in properly. All is ok now though.

Cheers

Foot-Tapper,

Its definitely one of the seals around the rear light clusters, probably the offside one. Have had this problem before & replacing the seals solved it.

You've got a job to do to dry the boot well out though!

Heard of this before, it was a badly repaired rear end shunt.

Dont want to alarm anyone though.

I've had it too. Badly sealed rear lights.

Seems to be a very common fault.

It's nothing to do with bad repairs! My brand new car was delivered with a leaking near side rear cluster

Might not be the rar light! My 4door WRX had a leak from below the rear screen/above the boot lid bracket. There was a leak between the different sections of metal plate that join in that area. Must have been a dab of joint sealant missing.

So with all these possible problems, there is only one way to be sure.

Lock yourself in the boot and ask a mate to push the car into the nearest lake. See where the waters coming in, and get the old silicon out.

Sorted

I had the same problem on mine and it was the offside rear cluster. A quick check to see if you have any condensation in that lamp will help track it down.

The water in mine covered the space saver completely

Is your rear spoiler the original one? If not and your have changed it since ownership, see if the boys have fitted rubber seals to the bolts connecting the spoiler!!!

Cheers guys, sorry havent replied sooner, just spent 2 days in the boot. lol.

I reckon its my lights. I think i'll go for some rubber type mastic. They are original , & no shunt.
Didnt realise this was so common & if so, why Subaru UK
havent said anything...or have they ?
