Has anybody here been through this, or are thier any people in the trade who can give me helpful advice please.

After rejecting the final offer, I think you must:
1) Raise your grievance with the insurance companys Quality Control Manager, then:
2) Take said grievance to the Chief Executive to give him one last chance to overturn the decision, then:
3) Take it to the Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman are usually pretty bogged down and you could realistically expect them to take up to 6months to resolve your situation.
Quite a drawn out process that unfortunately must be followed.
Adding up the time, effort and interest lost on your money (never mind being without a car), perhaps you should reconsider accepting the final offer and put this all down to experience
Whatever you decide, I hope it works out.

I have had dealings with insurance companies for many years, far too many to remember. You will find that the insurance company will only offer the "current market value" of the vehicle these days and if it is an import, this figure will reduce in offer to account for this.
Gone are the days where insurance companies offered what their inspecting engineer considered a "reasonable offer", taking into account, condition, mileage, service bills, enhancing extra's.
You may well not get any further increase in offer price, other than take many months to find this out. I have not know of any case going as far as the onbudsman and getting a higher figure, quite often their consideration amounts to a much lower figure, once their inspecting engineer has sent in his report.
Trouble is, as the prices are continually falling at the moment, "book prices" are shifting faster than anyone can keep up with.

Take the offer and move on. That is the best advice you could take .
Yes you might find it hard.....but at least you can get on with a new car and life etc.

well if you look round on the web, there are many documented cases where the client does get more. www.theiob.org
And as for move on and get a new one, i cant, not with the money they are offering.
The car is a UK car
white
60K miles
Full service history
immaculate condition (or it was)
Prodrive alloys
STI exhaust
£1000 worth of sercurity ( which they insisted on)
Many subaru dealers say i should be looking for around the £9000 mark, then add on the sercurity takes it to around £10000. They have already said they do add on the extra for the sercurity
They offered £8500
Now can anybody realy say thats right, the accident should cost me NO MORE than my excess.

Where is the car being stored? If it's in an accident repair centre waiting for a salvage company to collect it, why not talk to the mechanics that work there and slip them a couple of twenties to get your security back.
Worked for me, I got my PPP exhaust, UK300 carpet mats, gearknob, basically anything that wasn't glued to the car.
Might leave you feeling less bitter if you salvage some saleable parts.
