Importing Australian WRX to UK
#1
All,
I'm after info regarding the import of an Aussie WRX (same spec as UK
turbo). My car is a 98 met green in as-new condition with only 24000
kms on the clock. It is also completely standard and has full service
history. I'm after costs for:
1. the shipping and insurance
2. the change-over of speedo to mph
3. duty/tests etc to get it UK registered
4. what would it be worth in the UK?
The above will determine whether I bring it with me from Aus next year
when I return to the UK for a bit.
Thanks for any info,
Peter Sen

Costs of importing stuff has been covered before - do a search on this forum to see what's been posted before. As a ball park figure it probably would be £1500ish for the shipping/conversion/etc.
But really, unless you're in love with you present Scoob, it's probably not worth shipping it over. 98MYs (obviously depending on condition and mileage: yours sounds like a good 'un) here go for £13,000ish on the dealer forecourt and about £11,500 privately.

Miles,
Brand new Scoobies go for 13,000GBP in OZ.
So it may be worth Pete going the import route.
Cheers,
Wrexy

Not too many people know abot the OZ WRX being the same as the standard UK turbo.
I know one guy who bought one thinking it was the usual WRX with 280 BHP. Slightly dissapointed and out of pocket.
I'm sure you wouldn't pull that stunt on someone.
