Hello everyone

Thinking of buying an impreza turbo V,W or X(UK)-I want a blue one or maybe silver. Just wondering what the going price are for these with low miles.
Also whats the reliability like and cost for parts and services.
If anybody can give me useful buying tips(what to look out for)
One last thing I know they are quick 0-60 but what are the like through higher gears(do they kick civic type r butts)

I know i`m asking a lot but your replies would be highly appreciated

cheers

future impreza owner

Prices are tumbling at the moment so shop around & you should get a good one at a reosnable price, Subaru have just knocked 3000 off some of the Bugeyes to shift them before the new model so with a good finance deal it may be worth looking at, OK its a bit more but it comes fully guaranteed.

You dont say what you drive at the moment so its difficult to judge what servicing costs you are used too. As with most cars if you do it all through a main dealer it will cost so use an independant Scoob specialist (wont work with a new one), Good idea to research someone local before you buy & they could give you ideas of service costs etc, if you cant find one post on Scoobynet as someone may know of where to go in your area or check out the Main dealers as this will be the most you will pay.

Reliability is one thing that Subaru built there reputation on so this "hopefully" wont be a problem, spares are readily available, even for Imports if you know where to look (Scoobynet)

As with most cars the more tuned a car is the less reliable it will be so if you are looking for high reliability steer clear of highly modded cars, these always need tweaking, at least the owners always seem to be doing something (waits for comments)

Also check Insurance costs, especially if you buy a modded car, there is a lot of good advice & contacts on the Insurance forum, Imports are more expensive to Insure but you do get more car for your money & they tend to be quicker ( I say tend as someone is bound to post that their standard UK is faster than a STI, this is usually due to driver ability/stupidity)

Scoobs are great cars, they are fun & they are different, the 4 wheel drive means they stick to the road & will stick with most cars on the twisty bits but beware, as you will see from many threads on scoobynet when they let go its often terminal.
If you want a quick scoob the limit is normally the driver so look at driving courses rather than tuning bits initially, they dont raise your Insurance & they may save your life one day.

Hopefully welcome to Scooby World

...and people comment that the quality of threads is going downhill? If everything's seen as an opportunity to have a pop, it's no wonder, is it?

Stevie2K,

Take a look at this spreadsheet - should give yer an idea of costs of running and mpg (mine is a MY99):-

http://www.riftzone.fsnet.co.uk/scoobown.xls

60k service is £380, 2 tyres £250, 2 brake pads (fitted) £100. Only costs I've incurred so far...

Where in the North East exactly ?
