Picking it up in the morning
#1
You must remember this feeling.
Tomorrow at midday I pick up my first Scooby. A 1998 dark blue WRX. I can`t wait I have been counting down the days.I can barely function thinking about it.
Tales of new ownership and any advice to a virgin Scoob driver.
No mod advice because "I`M NOT GOING THERE!"
Cheers

Don't go mad at first. Give it a few weeks to get used to the car.
I managed to get a 6 point speeding ticket just weeks after getting my Evo6. Destroyed the new car feeling.
I've taken it easy with my STi this time around and it has worked out brilliantly

The short answer was that I found it very difficult to drive the Evo6 slowly. It really only seemed to have the one mode and that was flat out.
The STi works brilliantly as you don't have to be flat out to be having fun!
The long answer has to do with too many points on license, getting depressed about speed cameras, etc, etc...

Barnaby,
Thanks, I understand, what Sti did you get... I can't decide between an Evo5/6 or Sti-V.. Test drove an Evo5 and it was v.nice, used to own a Sti-1 a few years back that was nice too....

If you don't want to do any modifications to your car. Leave now and read something else
I said that and ended up spending 4.5 grand on mods for my last car. All it'll take is for you to go around as a passenger with someone who's had a brake upgrade and you'll want better brakes. Then you'll notice cars pulling away from you, then a power mod will come.

Back to good virgin advice . . . After a blast or motorway stint, let your engine run for a minute or two before you switch off, so that the turbo, which will be extremely hot and spinning close to the speed of light, doesn't frazzle it's bearings & gets some cooling oil to calm it all down.

Get a new username as you cant change that one .
Useful advice stay out of the redzone and turn the petrol nozzle 45-90 degrees clockwise when you fill otherwise it will keep cutting out, trust me .

Just to let everyone know it is now the second day of ownership and the car is all and more I imagined is would be. The WRX extras are the cherry on the cake. I can`t stop driving the thing. Taking it nice and easy as advised and keeping an eye on the fuel. Turbo is set at just above 3000 which gives me 65 to 70 without warp speed 10 being activated.
I will post piccies of the beast once back from holiday and also find a new user name, god knows what though.
I just know the other half is going to get the hump over me dying to get home and drive the Scooby whilst we are away. What a time to start a new relationship.
P.S
Hello and thanks for the welcome. It is great to finally join the club and I look forward to meeting some of you soon
