Rather than being deleted expeditiously by the Moderators I see this thread could run the risk of being relegated to the Muppet forum.

I was hoping to open up a discussion of what Scoobynet has degenerated to, and to capture some of those inanely foolish questions oft asked .

Instead I realise I've tabled an English lesson!

None-the-less, another one that got right up my nose was:

"What's the silliest thing you've ever done in your Scoob?"

Surely the moderators should remove this immediately!
Along with:

"How many times you fill up on gas each week?"
"What's faster, a Scoob or a ***?"

Not as 'asinine' as on another board asking what type of antifreeze does everyone use

ROFL

If you own a scoob it IS the fastest car around...

If you were beaten off lights by another vehicle, you wern't
bothering to race...

I tend to fill up with petrol when its low (my mum taught me that!)

This is a very difficult subject. What we may consider asinine, purile or whatever is subjectively very important to someone else.

We are trying to up the quality in here, and you may have noticed a more enthusiastic use of locks and movements of threads. We're just as fed up as everybody else is of the "dumbing down" of scoobynet, and we are trying to do something about it.

Silly or non relevant threads go. Borderline ones might go, they might not, depending upon a subjective review.

But I guarantee everyone this: we'll annoy people

Canuck

Isn`t "How many times you fill up on gas each week?" a vaild question if you`re interested in the MPG of a prospective motor?

"How many times you fill up on gas each week?" is a subjective question as some people may fill up sooner than others.

Therefore a question that might prompt a more informative response could be worded (IMHO of course):

"What is your average MPG?"

If the use of good words me might need a sticky post to an on-line dictionary!

Whoooaaa, no offense implied to anyone - especially you MATTel ! I thought that your quick come-back was a laff, as was
Hawkeye's.

As for the other comments, much appreciated and thought-provoking.
If you followed that "How many times..." thread you'll see that it was inanely foolish IMHO whereas questions about mileage costs are appropriate.

As for me appearing pompASS, I apologise - surely the tone of the starter comment showed something different to that. Chiark, we all support the "smartening-up" of the BBS and the efforts you lot are making. At the end of the day I am expressing an opinion here (not offensively I hope) that was intended to lead to a somewhat light-hearted discussion of like-minded members.

Perhaps I am wide of the mark here - please if so can a Moderator remove this dross?

Keith

Perhaps a sensible suggestion would be to stop all these repeated threads is when a newcomer is sent their password, attached is a message on usage of 'search' button for popular topics..
