If you find the thief, crucify him to a fence and repeatedly beat him up

Even though I don't own a Scoobs anymore I still like to come on here and join the banter. Thought I would let peeps know round my area that nothing is safe...

Saturday night between 7-10pm, my E36 M3 parked outside house on the road. Plenty streetlights and a busy road and some sh*ts have nicked my wing mirrors. Totally useless to whoever has them as they left the backing plates.

WTF is this country coming to where scum starts stealing items off of others cars. Just been ringing round for prices and all i can say is it would probably have been cheaper if they had keyed the whole car!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway rant over, if anyone knows of any M3 mirror heads going cheap then I'll have them....

Try ebay. There are usually a few sets for sale but their usually not a genuine BMW part. Who can tell anyway?

Sorry to hear about the mirrors mate.
We've have just got a very expensive alarm for the house (houses being broken into just for Impreza keys worried me) but we've even got CCTV outside pointing to the driveway where the Impreza and the wife's Celica reside. It's a sad world when you have to do all that just to frighten people away from your property and possessions.

You have my sympathies mate - these gits deserve their hands chopping off.

This was already a common problem, but I've seen plates for Ka's, Novas etc. which allow you to mount original BM mirrors - so it'll get worse I suppose. There's normally an ad in BMW Driver for a system that secures the mirrors to the car and attaches them to the alarm too. Too late to help you this time, but might be worth looking at.

All the best,

Deano

STi-Frenchie, thats where I got the idea from. It seems to work as the guy hasn't stolen any cars lately.

Slough - that's what my guess would have been...plenty of its inhabitants are prospective culprits!

rather than swapping the motor, move house mate!

Cool

Ian - if I see an M3 driving around with no wing mirrors I'll give you a flash. Just a question though - I was under the impression that BMW drivers are unaware that they have mirrors fitted in the first place. Are you sure they weren't taken months ago but you just havent noticed???

(Technical note - I havent yet worked out how to insert the smiley which means "sorry, just showing my sympathy via some light hearted anti-BMW stereotyping cliche")

I know of 2 people who have had mirrors or spoilers nicked in broad daylight... its unbelievable, and there is so little you can do...

unofficially... you could try glueing razor blades underneath the mirrors.... that will give them something to think about...
