What fuel to use in France

Now I may be a bit confused as I drove through 6 countries in 5 days bur in several and I think France included they were selling something called 'V Max" which is as far as I can work out what we are getting as Optimax (though in Italy they were rating it at 99 Octane on the pumps). Other than that I found SUL pretty easy to find most places I went.

Hope I'm not talking rubbish and that helps a bit

What is the best fuel to put in the scooby 22B Jap import when in France any recommendations.

I've just returned from 2 weeks in France in my UK MY00 Turbo and they have 98RON fuel at almost every main garage there (and it's about 10p a litre cheaper than over here - grrrrrrh!!!). The main thing is DON'T use the 97 Super stuff (blue) as this is their equvalent of LRP.
