gone in two flashes
#1
My licence perhaps!!!
Been silly I know but I was flashed twice by a speed camera.
I was doing around 85 in a 50 and i was photographed overtaking. The camera was on the other side of the road and I was heading towards it.
It has now been exactly two weeks since my great stupidity and I haven't been notified.
Does amyone know if:-
1 there is a time limit for authorities it notify of an offence?
2 a camera (square box rear facing) can work with the car coming towards it?
thanks in advance.
Matthew
ps wadja recon 3 or 6 points?

Gatso's that *flash* ONLY take pictures of your car from behind...... Truvelo's take them from the front and have an infrared flash thats not visible........
The flash from the GATSO as you approached it is likely to be a sign of a faulty GATSO that has picked up a reflection from your car, was unable to determine the speed and took a piccy anyway....... Hence, no fine or points from that camera

You should be ok. They need to notify you within two weeks unless the car is a company car in which case I think they are allowed a longer period to trace you.
If they do get you for 85 in a 50 then I would think you'd be looking at a Court appearance, large fine, possible ban / 5-6 points
They are a few useful web sites that will give you more info, e.g.

You should be ok, as you were going towards it, however, you are not in the clear yet, they have 14 WORKING DAYS to NIP you! So a few more days to go yet...
Sorry
Jon
PS 6 points or a ban, 35mph above the limit!!

I've been flashed plenty of times from facing the camera... No summons on that yet...
Remember the two photo's are so they can corroborate the radar evidence against the lines on the road, usually when you are facing the camera the second photo happens when you have passed the lines... Zero evidence...
As per the 14 day NIP - this is true, however there is nothing to stop the police falsifying evidence to get the dates to fit, it never stopped them in the past and you have no way of proving them wrong (usually) so don't rely on this. I know this having stood in Magistrates court and tried to plead against the police, who do you think they believed given completely conflicting evidence???

Ive had this one before and ive asked a friend of mine who works for the police and the answer is simple....
if both sides of the road are marked then you can be done for speeding, if only the opposite side of the road is marked then you cant

This may not be true! I was flashed by what appeared to be a Truvelo (it was night time) and it did flash (once) visibly.
That was about 10 days ago, so let's hope that it was a falsie.

SJobson,
The Truvelo's do flash once. The first strip appears to register the speed of the front wheel. Once they touch the second strip the camera flashes if your breaking the set speed. Pot luck if it's armed.
