Can anyone recommned who would be the best in seting up / tuning my STI 3, I live in the North West but am not bothered about travelling.
Have thought about booking into GGR, Power Eng & ScoobyS, any good/bad reasons not to.
Any help much appreciated.

You might consider TSL (Nottingham) or Roger Clarks (Leicester). I have only used Roger Clarks and found them to be excellent. TSL have a good rep though.

Scoobysport arent really a tuning firm. They tend to sell bolt on products such as exhausts which are very popular.

Power engineering and ggr can seel you the same sort of proucts as scoobysport, but will also do real tuning such as intercooler work, water injection, injector replacement and more importantly, they will play with you ecu.

I cant comment on how they do this, but to my knowledge, the standard ecu is not meant to have its map played with.

ECU wise, you would be beter off buying a replacement link ecu from brdevelopments, or have a uni chip mapped to your car at power station.

I would avoid standard ecu remaps and superchips type bolt ons like the plague.

People will disagree with me but I dont care, they probably haven't taken a look at the evidence.

David its over to you. (Grossmanism)

John,
I have to agree with some of what Adam stated above.
However I would also state that TSL are (in my opinion) not big engine tuners.
GGR would be a good choice. They tend to specialise in this area and have highly trained personnel.

Cool

No tuning is without risk. Scooby sport has done well with just free flow exhaust and filter.

Powr engineering had a string of engine failures which they were able to explain away as inherent engine design fault

What is your budget as BRD can almost double your power for the right money

BR Developments for a Link Map and safe tuning. I would not bother with an exhaust and airfilter - they will help of course, but to get more benefit for a cheap price you need an ECU replacment or chip - then add the exhaust and a filter (exhuast for the power - filter for the noise!)

I am also aware that people tend to rate Power Station.. I have only had good experiences to date with these people.. although their rolling road is erm challenging - incentives u to modify the car more

Then again I am a relative novice having only modified the following cars:

Citreon AX GT - Twin 40 webbers (the fuel bills!)
Ford XR2
Ford Escort RS Turbo (extensive mods)
Escort Cosworth (extensive mods)
Scooby Doooooooooo (not gone internal yet as no-one in the uk has yet proved to be competent enough... - I have heard some good and some truly awful comments on C&K -first hand ones as well! - but I can make no personal judgements as I have never used them

I'm not prepared to comment at all on companies such as GGR and Powerengineering
