Performance Comparison for UK Scoob
#1
just wandering ...
what standard motors, offer a decent performance comparison to a uk scoob. not much for same used money .... i understand, but otherwise.
eg. unmodded TT (???) or fiat coupe turbo (???)
opinions or suggestions please.

I would say the following offer roughly the same performance as a UK Scoob...(straight line anyway)
Corrado VR6
Fiat Coupe (later 20v ones)
AudiTT 225
BMW 330
etc etc etc
Where the Scoob wins is the A-B ability.

howz about stats comparison ...
only interested coz they posted a similar thread on the UK TT Forum quoting 0-100 in 16.9 for the scoob and 15.4 for the 225TT coupe. seems a little off the mark to me.

Autocar figures were for a 98MY but I think are slightly optimistic. Near 5.8 and 15.5 I think. Remember MY99 and MY00 were slightly more powerful.
VR6 - Friday joke right?
2.7 Boxster is close as is Boxster S

Wilf,
it depends on who's behind the wheel.
My Nan could get a standard UK to 60 in 5.8
There are some out there that are quicker...
Didn't someone do 5.00 at Trax?

SIDC got a UK MY98 to do a 5.02 seconds at Santa Pod.
Mind you that was low fuel, super-grippy tyres on super-grippy tarmac and on a low-load.
Point is - can be done.

Well considering a Corrado only has 190bhp and weighs more with front wheel drive a scooby should beat it. I should know I had a VR6 for 4 years and a scooby for nearly 3. Having said that the corrado was and still is a great car with a strong engine and handled very well.
