OK Guys and Girls I need some help.

My car is coming up for its 90,000 service soon and as my old dealer has gone (INTERMOTO)my new nearest dealer is E.S. Jones.

I spoke to them the other week and was told this service costs just shy of £600 .
They also don' give discount to SIDC members .

So heres the questions that need answers.

1)Which dealer in the North West will do a good job on my car, will they do it cheaper than £600 and will they also give me 10% discount for being an SIDC member.
I'm based around Chester so if I can get yes answres to the above questions it will make it worth my while to travel a little bit further afield to get the service done.

2) I've heard the technicians from Intermoto now work at the Jaguar dealers in Liverpool as they owned Intermoto. As far as I know they are still officially servicing scoobs.
Anyone been there since they closed?

Thanks

Chris

Rc developments in Warrington would be able to service your car and do a good job i would have thought (they have not carried out any work for me but seam very helpfull)

one of my mates from work used to own a scoob and he had it serviced at Es Jones and said he would never go back there again !

Robinsons Rochdale. 01706 716650.

Dunno how much but they do SIDC discount and their service rates seem to usually be less than other people have quoted.

Top chaps and they'll lend you a car if you can give em notice.

I've been using Robinsons since Intermoto closed in January cos they're cheaper and friendlier than the other dealers I've spoken to. Had the 60,000 mile service carried out by them back in July and I'm very happy with their work and the SIDC discount!

Cool

Eeeh small world innit? Me mum lives in Pensby nowadays, will keep an eye out when visiting.

I'm doing the pub treasure hunt this Sunday so anyone who can make it up to the Three Crowns at Scouthead between 10:30 and 11:30 am is welcome. (It's a fiver a car and I did the route and questions). It's on the main A62 out of Oldham towards Huddersfield about 6/7 miles out of Oldham.

Afterwards you can eat/drink if you want or there are all those local moorland roads to go at.

I work just down the road from E.S.Jones, I have used them for ym 1000, 7500 & 15000 services....but will not be in the future.

Why?

1. My 12 month import warranty is up, so no need to use IM any more
2. ES Jones are not a performance car garage, yes they are a Subaru dealer, but also a Suzuki & Hyundai dealer....they don't have the obvious concern/passion/knowledge that can be obtained from other garages.
3. I can go to a none-IM performance garage and get a better job done (IMHO) for less cash.
4. Lastly, they gave my car a free valet for my 15000 service......great I hear you say, except all they did was stick it through the 5ucking car wash in the Esso next door...NOT happy given I've hand washed the car from new....and I told them.

I will be using ABP Motorsport just outside Crewe for my next service. I have had mods done there and been v.pleased. Their workshop is immaculate, their staff v.knowledgable, they look after the cars and you can watch them do the work if you want. And the prices aren't silly either.

Whilst there are a few of you about...

Anyone fancy doing a Chester/Wirral/North Wales meet????? I was living in Tarvin, now living in Heswall and would love to meet some people local to me. What about this Sunday...what with RallyX being cancelled

Anyway....this is me, with new wheels. I am without side skirts at the mo as they are being colour coded along with my StiV spoiler Let me know if you see me about & give us a wave.

H -
its a popular misconception that you have to use IM dealers to maintain your 12 month warranty - this is NOT the case - in fact that would be quite illegal for a manufacturer to try to impose - they may only stipulate that you use genuine parts or parts of a similar quality - thus you are quite within your rights to use independent servicing centres (in my experience most of these will use genuine subaru parts anyway).
The year 2 + 3 warranty on UK cars is, however, not subject to legislation and is offered by IM not the manufacturer - thus they may apply conditions - however the cost of a third party warranty is often very small so people can always take out one of those and continue to use independent servicing at a much lower overall cost.

I use an independent for both my girlfriends suzuki (halving the servicing costs) and my B4 - simply because I can better trust the specialists who work there. The fact that their hourly rate is half that of an official dealer is just icing on the cake!

oh and the personal service and customer care I get is second to none and very rare to find these days.

I have alays been wary of main dealers for the very reason that they charge you the earth for the dubious services of some spotty apprentice and a little rubber stamp. Its only the likes of Quentin Wilson and his full Main Dealer Service History, Arfur Daley types that allow them to keep it up.

PWebb- interesting comment on the warranty issue....you learn a new thing every day.

YOUNG GED- Thanks for the comments, it would be good to sort a meet....I know some good roads in NOrth Wales as the company I am with owns Dinorwig & Ffestiniog Power Stations...so I am up there a fair bit.
I am only just geting familiar with the names of people on this BBS that live locally. DPmotorsport....seem to remember they are one of the official dealers for Blitz products in the UK, don't know anything else about them.

Tony- You on the Wirral or over the water?

BarryK- Thanks for the offer, this treasure hunt....is it a Scooby only thing?

In the mean time if anyone fancies a simple get together one evening/this weekend just give us a shout

Excuse me joining late, but as an ex Intermoto now Robinsons client I didn't really have anything more to ad.
(Though Monks Heath Motors may be worth considering if u don't fancy a trek down the '62.)
Whilst I'm certainly over the water I could be tempted to venture out one evening, unfortunately if you mention it again Mellow will probably do the same

Top....

It would be cool to sort something out locally....even Mellow can come, besides I want a nosey at the roll cage in his car.(if not sold)

Er....I'm going to put a post in the Northern Board.
