Sorry to hear the news Si.
I'll take this chance to thank you for all the hard work you put in. I don't think there's anyone here who does'nt applaud your efforts in this.
Well done, shame about the wheather

Hi All
Unfortunately we have had to call off the rally x event planned for this weekend.
Whilton Mill have been fantastic and had reviewed their pricing, etc to help us do it with the reduced numbers, so that side was sorted...
but looking at the weather forecast this morning for the next 3 days, there is just too much rain. We really needed it to be dry for the last 7 days up to the event to give the ground a chance to dry out.
As it stands, even if it doesn't rain on the day, the ground will be way too soft, and we'll end up with rutted tracks, and cars stuck in the mud, etc.
This is a real shame after all the effort everyone has put in, and it will be a financial loss to scoobynet after credit card charges, and a few other things, but that's one of them things.
Sorry to all those that booked up and were looking forward to it as much as me, refunds will be credit back to people's cards today.
All the best
Simon

It really is a shame... I guess weather was always against us rather than for us, but it was definitely worth a try as it would have been great fun.
We will definitely run one next year when the weather comes back a bit.
If we get lots of snow, we might run one on the spur of the moment also which would be awesome, but I think we'll have to leave it for this year now

Oh well - these things happen mate
Big thanks to everyone who put in the hard work to try and get this one organised. I had planned to make the trip down with Robertio, but there's always another time.
Chin up and I'll look forward to the next ScoobyNet event
Cheers

Sounds great! (but won't the snow disappear after the first half-a-dozen cars have been through?)

thanks guys
carl.. not necessarily.. when we went to bruntingthorpe last winter (which was fabulous) we did many runs over the same ground and it was just the snow was packed in solid.
It obviously wouldn't work with just a light scattering.. but if we had a huge down poor, etc and could get it up and running quick enough, it would be a hoot

Si,
Is there any chance of still having the BBQ side of the event. That way you wouldn't have to make a full refund, thus incorperate the charges into individuals BBQ fees. And everyone still gets to have a super sized Scooby meet. Just a thought?

Good thought Disco..
but unfortunately we were not making any money at all on the BBQ, in fact we were making a loss of a few pence per ticket.. and the BBQ was only being put on because we were running the whole event.

Shame, I just thought you may have been able to absorb the credit cards transaction costs by doing that. Perhaps people wouldn't mind paying another couple of quid cash on the day, no-one likes to see Scoobynet lose money after all!

Sorry to hear the news
What about the BBQ mixed with some of the driving activities they have at Whilton.
Karting
Quads
Etc
We could still have a big Scooby meet and then race on the Karting and Quad tracks using their equipment.

Oh Smeg,
I was really looking forward to Sunday but loads of thanks to Simon for his efforts in getting this off the ground.
Sorry to be a party pooper but I don't really want to drive all that way for a rainy BBQ.
But I don't mind the credit coming back less c/card charges (about 2% I think).
I'm defiantly up for some more muddy (or snowy) fun.

Aw shucks.
Thanks for the all the effort Simon.
Are the credit card charges big? I don't have a problem if you only want to refund £70, leaving £5 to cover the bank costs and help pay for the time spent sorting it out.
Having seen the video of Brunters, I'm up for that weather allowing!
Upside is that I can get lashed on Saturday night now without worrying about an early start.
ChrisB.

Thanks for the effort you put in Simon, like Chris if you want to refund just £70, and keep the £5 for charges it's fine with me.
Bruntingthorpe might prove a bit of a problem, being the better part of 400 miles from me, it'd take me hours to drive down in the snow
Looks like I start my rest of the year doing nothing a week sooner, oh well...
Just have to look forward to next summer now
