HUMMMMMMMMM.........think the mods need to do something about the amount of scamming going on here!
if i believed everything some of the vendors on here are selling i could be extremely ripped off!!!!!
broquets-£147
HKS earthing kit-£130
tsunarmi turbonator-£100
for £377 i would get a few tin ***** in a sock,a few bits of cable with some gold plated ends on and a small piece of stainless steel with some angled holes cut in!
total value of this lot can not be more than £20 but thats not really the point is it.
i would be promised-
better fuel economy!
more power!
more smooth running engine!
higher octane fuel!
and what would i get
**** ALL!!!
any thoughts........

You bought a Nova, and are worrying about getting ripped off???? Didnt you realise that when you were buying the car?
People may be talking about these things, but I dont think they are blatantly advertising them, and they are certainly not forcing them down your throat. If people are silly enough to buy certain items, then let them. Some may work, some may not. As long as the customer is happy, what does it matter. Things can always be bought cheaper elsewhere, or perhaps if you do it yourself, but thats for them to decide.
After all, you were silly enough to buy a Nova, and then even advertise that fact that you do drive a Nova after that.
If anyone has been ripped off....

People put serious time and effort into making sure their products do something and actually work
E.g the Broquet stuff. Subaru fitted this to the P1 as standard. They would hardly fit it to the cars if it did'nt work would they?
Mind you, most of the Nova stuff comprises of baked bean tins, fibre glass trinkets from Halfords and Sticky back plastic.
In fact did'nt they have a build it yourself Nova backbox featured on blue peter the other week? It was on just after the kids got back from school so as to catch the biggest audience for it.

Media: Magazine
Sector: Motoring
Complaints from: Berkshire & Hampshire
Complaint: Objection to advertisements in a specialist motoring magazine for the Broquet Fuel Catalyst. One advertisement included a testimonial that claimed
"... petrol consumption has decreased dramatically." The other claimed "LEADED-ONLY PETROL ENGINES ... switch safely ... to much cheaper ordinary unleaded and still improve mpg ... NEWER UNLEADED ENGINES. Broquet improves engine running and mpg - usually without any timing retardation which so often takes the edge off performance ... NEW ENGINES WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ... Performance is enhanced ... Broquet ... can ... give you a better running engine ..." The complainant challenged the claims:
1. "The fuel catalyst";
2. "petrol consumption has decreased dramatically";
3. "improve mpg";
4. "Broquet improves engine running ... without any timing retardation";
5. "performance is enhanced"; and
6. "a better running engine"
7. The Authority challenged the claim that the switch to unleaded could be made safely.
(Ed 9: 3.1 , 7.1 ) Adjudication:
1. Complaint upheld.
The advertisers argued that the product was a liquid phase catalyst that modified the chemical nature of fuel without chemically changing itself. The Authority consulted an expert and concluded that the evidence provided by the advertisers had not shown that the product brought about a change in the chemical nature of fuel and therefore had a catalytic effect. It asked the advertisers to remove the claim from their advertisements.
2 & 3. Complaint upheld.
The advertisers referred to the results of tests carried out by an independent laboratory, which were given to the Authority in an earlier investigation: they stated that fuel consumption improved by between 1.7% and 5.2% with the Broquet device. The Authority understood from the same expert that, since the Authority's earlier investigation, a new European Union Directive had been introduced on this type of test and the methodology used in the tests carried out by the independent laboratory did not comply with those regulations. It concluded that the advertisers had not given enough evidence to substantiate their claims; it asked for them to be removed from their advertisements.
4, 5 & 6. Complaint upheld.
The advertisers submitted a list of one-line comments about the device from letters sent to them by readers of a motoring association magazine. The Authority reminded the advertisers that this type of evidence was not enough to substantiate these claims. The Authority asked the advertisers to withdraw the claims from their advertisements.
7. Upheld
The advertisers again referred to comments made by the motoring association magazine's readers. The Authority noted that the advertisers had not submitted evidence to substantiate that the switch could be made safely. It was concerned that the advertisers had used the claim despite an earlier adjudication on a similar claim in which the Authority had asked the advertisers not to use that claim. In the absence of expert opinion supporting the claim, the Authority asked the advertisers to drop it from their advertisements immediately and take copy advice.

Nos
Please remember that the products are sold by vendors in scoobyshop and not BY scoobynet. Therefore your subject title is inaccurate.
If you do a search for Broquet dated Jan 2000- Jan 2001 You'll find it was debated(including the above findings) in great detail.
You might find some of the results surprising, if I remember correctly.

Bob Rawle is a top Impreza tuning guy in the UK BTW
I suspect benefits from broquet vary from car marque to car marque.
Anyway, you can run search as well as I can.
BTW I've No connection to anyone who sells this stuff, just pointing out its been discussed before

I actually do agree with Nos though. It's best to really research stuff before you buy, not just go for the latest 'fad' This is one of the reasons why I think scoobynet is search a great resource, as somebody has usually done it first.

sorry neil if my title is misleading
daz, are you 100% sure p1's had them in the tank as standard??
i am sure if prodrive used them they would be pushing them as a product that they use themselves
