I am considering buying a lightweight Subaru for Sprints and hillclimbs.

What one should I buy and what will it weigh?

Thanks

UK 4drs are about 1235kg, the 5drs are about 1270kg.

The fact that a new shape MINI is heavier than a base Impreza (ie non-turbo) always amuses me.

S55DRJ - V6 as in 6 cylinders in a v-shape?! In a scoob? Can't be many people who've done that... What's it like?

Or have I misunderstood in my newbie enthusiasm?

Question

What adds the extra weight to a P1 over an MY00 or STi5?

Go with an S202 if you can get your hands on one, they are already completely stripped out. And they have the extra horsepower aswell. If possible, get that. Otherwise, just get an STi type RA.

Exclamation

if you are sprinting you do not want a UK spec car, the gearing is way too high!

Buy an STi5 TypeRA, you get the lightweight shell, lightweight glass, close ratio box with adjustable centre diff, front and rear LSD's too. You also get bigger driveshafts and wheel bearings that are stronger for launches and kerb hoping. You get bigger 2 pot rear brakes rather than sliding calipers. You get a quick steering rack, important in sprinting on the tighter circuits. You get 280BHP standard, a much better spec engine with 8000rpm top end. I could go on, there is a lot more to an STi RA than meets the eye.
