Battery problems
#1
Without sounding too dumb ive had the breakdown people out to start the car, he seems to think its battery, put a charge on it and it started. Anyway now flat again, so what battery do i ask for when going to buy one??
Help please, or do i just phone up dealer?
Cheers.
Alan (ps thats why i was not at the hants meet tonight!)

Any supplier you use, will be able to identify from their own books/suppliers the correct battery you require.
Ps not a cheap one I promise, but then it does have to do a lot of work

Funnily enough this happend to me 2 days ago !
The cold weather always kills a dodgy battery, so I just went to my local car accessories place they had the scooby 2lt turbo in thier book give m the battery with 3 year guarantee and its perfect now !
Halfords rip you off I called them fooking £60 they wanted !
Got it for £37 for my little local store cause they don't add on "we are halfords tax you must pay more".

before you spend money on a battery, did the breakdown guy check that the alternator was working? It does sound like the battery but worth checking before you waste your money.

To check the alternator you can just test the voltage across the battery with the engine running - it should be 12-13V I think.
But hang on, you can't start the engine can you? Doh!
New battery then I'm afraid . Could be worse though Alan - I found out I needed new rear shocks today!
