Can anyone suggest, from experience, a good quality Rally School - for a gift ?
I have been browsing around, and found the following, but I am hoping for some personal reccomendations!
http://www.billgwynne.com/

Your comments welcomed :-)

Done Forest experience and Shropshire rally school
Both were good, ForestExp was more serious(actually in a proper forest stage), Shropshire was more fun(on a tarmac airfield covered in gravel with a couple of Mk2 Escorts)
Edited for spelling

Cool, cheers Matt.
I am thinking that in terms of the gift, the best features are:
- fun : as mush as possible!
- maximum time spent in the cars/driving : see above
- reasonable cost : £200-300

I have done Bill Gwynne and Forest Experience, there is no comparison...! The Forest Experience is much more realistic being on a partial forest stage. If you just want to learn the basics try one of the tarmac ones, but FE gets my vote.

Bill Gwynne's rally school is good. I just paid for the wife to go on this and she had a great time. They do 1/2 and full days. the full day is about £350 and includes rear wheel drive escort and a scoob. the half day is in the escort at £150. + good food and friendly people who enjoy their jobs.

One question - this gift is aimed at fun - rather than realism (not sure how close the two are) but the main focus is fun.
Best suggestion based on that synopsis ?

I've done the Brands Hatch rally school day (or rather half-day!). It is pitched a bit more at the novice and doesn't get too technical. Although the cars are setup properly.
Might be a better option for beginners? I would guess it is very similar to the Silverstone rally school though.

I've done the Forest Experience and it was awesome!
Will be going again this summer.
Would say that it's a good laugh, but it's probably a little more rally orientated - you're on a stage, as opposed to handbraking round a car park..... but it's such good fun!

http://www.rally-drive.co.uk/ (Prodriver plus
I did the "Prodriver plus" on this one, which I can highly recommend. It's cheap compared to some of the others, but don't let that put you off - you get a *lot* of driving, and in three different cars (Golf GTI, BMW & Impreza).

My rally teams two crews were sent to Phil Price Rally School,
it cost 220 for the day, but that got us all a national B licence as well.
Absolutley top day out, and it all got very competitive, MK2 escorts for fantastic rear out action all day, long time in the cars, 3 hrs in morning, 3 hours in afternoon, and lunch plus top racing through his stage. and a drive in escort cosworth (phils foot covering clutch all way round though, very big brother but it got us all hooked)
AND! the drive to his placve through the welsh hills, to Powys is incredible, and the day was huge sucsess.

I've done the Bill Gwynne Day in an Impreza. This is on about a 600-800 yard track of mixed surface including two 180degree turns. From memory you get 4 sessions of 4-5 laps. Instructor (Nick) was excellent and you can also buy a video of you driving with two views, one of your face/arms and the other the view out the front! Not cheap (350'ish). I used air miles (Red Letter days) to get a basic day (2wd escort) and then upgraded to an impreza (+£150)
