Hmmm, you're not making it easy to resist buying it! Good write-up.

I won't ask what you speed you were doing in a 6th gear corner either

Surely for that kind of money you could get a reprogramable ECU and full decat/ air filter?.. and *alot* more performance.

O.K., the warranty will be out the window, but whats the warranty worth anyway?? They`ll invalidate it for the most trivial of reasons so may aswell do it in style

Rich.

Russ,
Felt as you measured less boost in end of 5th & 6th.
I will probably put my Magnex back on but will live with it for a while and see.

But agree a defno improvement IMHO

Tony

Some Peeps may dissagree with us as in the market place £2K will buy far better gains but **** warrenty

Jacey,
I am not trying to convince anyone just giving my first veiws LOL I dont think my post would be used as an advert for PPP LOL
Personally I believe this is not a performance package but a repair kit for the STi7 but thats picking hairs and £1 per BHP not worth it, but cures most STi7's por performnce issues.

Power station/litchfield/ Power enginering scooby sport ETc all do very good performance upgrades and far better value for money far better gains but if you want the 3 year warrenty safety net then PPP is the slower/safer way too go. Some peeps may choose to go the cheaper option, An Import and cheaper upgrade and the pennies saved could easily repair a fecked engine. but you pays yer money Etc.

You can always go to the aftermarket for apparently better value, but

a) No warranty

b) A PPP will hold about 50% of it value vs nearly a 80% loss on most aftermarket systems.

Red face

Have't dare asked when mine is due in....

Pooder... 12 weeks is taking the **** in my books after carefully launching it when it is "ready"

Who is responsible for this 3 month wait?

In 3 months my car will be nigh on a year old, bearing in mind I intend to sell the car when it is 2 yrs old I find myself wondering whether to bother now!

Oh! and while I am in moan mode handling in the wet is well dodgy IMHO anyone any suggestions on how to improve on the standard set up.

PPP been on order since april also, Listers could of told me they had a demo to try. As regards to your ppp, they claim a 0--60 time of 4.6 secs surely you would be gobsmacked by the extra rush, i was in the old RB5. Bring her over in few days and will compare with non PPP.
Rob.
PS How about insurance hikes.

All
Ordered mine April I at Lister Worcester they have used all the kits IM supplied and they haven't a clue when the next lot will arrive but I bet all other Dealers who haven't recieved ANY at will come first

Rob,
4 X 4.6 second starts = £700 for a new Clutch You can have a blast in mine to see what your missing I drove my scoob using the given 262 Bhp not the 254 lbs Torque hence the fuel economy. the biggest increase is in Torque so I need to us that not revs So you lose the the neck breaking jerk at 4krpm for a better even pull from 3Krpm to 7Krpm .
Not gobsmacked but pleasantly suprised I think after our trip back from Banbury it would take more than 38 Bhp to impress me

Glad you finally got it fitted Tony, great review.

Seems like its done to the STI what the PPP did to my UK WRX - i.e. improve driveablility withourt creating a "oh my god thats fast" monster.

Guess you'll have to wait for the down/up pipes to get signed off and then you'll have da monster!!!!!!!!!!

Jza,
Everyone seems to be able to put in 20 words hat takes me a 100 Definately a better car to drive even taking off gentlely at 1000 rpm I am glad the 4Krpm kick is gone could have been dodgy in the Ice.
The handling is improved the SureTrac diffs just love the extra grunt Mike I just would love 60 bhp more why not a 100 while your there, see not greedy

HAD OR HAVING IT PPP'd REMEMBER TO TAKE BOTH SETS OF KEYS AS THE TRANSPONDER IN IT HAS TO BE PROGRAMMED INTO NEW ECU OR YOUR SPARE SET WON'T WORK

As I use both sets of keys one for work and one for play I went out to start the car After much panic and checking the pistons haven't dropped out found the red key light on use the other set and starts
I rang my dealer who said "You didn't bring them in so could't program them in. Bring them in and we'll do that for you"

Silly me

Tony

HAD OR HAVING IT PPP'd REMEMBER TO TAKE BOTH SETS OF KEYS AS THE TRANSPONDER IN IT HAS TO BE PROGRAMMED INTO NEW ECU OR YOUR SPARE SET WON'T WORK

THIS IS MY HUMBLE OPINION OF THE NEW STi7 PPP

Please note that -:

A) I am only an Owner not a Car Tester
B) Only a Passenger in a M.Woods Sti7,Licthfield STi7, drove a Listers PPP'd Demo this morning and drove mine home 50 miles

Think thats just about cover my ****

Every day mode

The car takes off from standing at junction now meaningful, doesn't bog down
Following traffic the car is a lot smoother and progressive (it's taken out the 4Krpm Neck breaking kick)
Most places I was able to be 1 gear higher using the obvious increase of Torque

Quicker road overtaking etc

The car pulls from about 3krpm to 7krpm and therefore having to make 2 gear changes instead of 3 during one manouvre.
This pull is no way as exposive as the Non PPP 4krpm to 7Krpm but will acheive a better result smootherand quicker.
I will have to learn now to use the Torque and not revs. I can see my fuel economy going up

Giving it some on a 'Dry' Private Road

This is where you see/feel the most or least changes ( sorry not very literate )

Flat 2nd Corner Car slides but the smooth Torque delivery a big plus doesn't want to wrench the wheel out of your hands. Will need to be still very cautious in the wet. tremendous corner pull out.

Flat 3rd Corner Very controlable power, exiting the corner as the diffs whined, noted slight wheelspin on pull out. Pionted it where to go and the power did the rest.

Flat 4th Corner Wheel spin during sliding on bumpy road surface but not on corner pull out.slight caution in wet

Flat 5th Corner Pulls out the corner better than old but the smoother torque delivery diguises the speed

Flat 6th Corner At this stage hard to compare with the old car so too busy holding on

My opinion
This is how the STi7 should have been in the first place. PPP cures a lot of the faults with the Standard STi7
You'll definately notice.

UPS
a) better 1000-2000 rpm town starts
b) The 3000 rpm start of power
c) The extra Torque out the corner
D) Straight line acceleration feels better, but not awesome, it loses the 4Krpm 'kick' but then look at the speedo.
I normally on this Road I only achieve 6th gear once but managed it twice with PPP.
e) Xhorst note Sounds loads better.

DOWNS

a) Price £2100 (with service)
b) Not fantastic gains

This puts the car back how everyone felt it should be. So if your wanting to fix, improve and keep your warrenty this is for you.
But if looking for Track/WRC awesome performance its maybe not be a package for you.

Is it worth it depends on how much £2K is to you and what YOU want from the car.
Try it before you buy you will be pleased but not gobsmacked.

Again hard to access for so short a millage

Tony

Ps told you it was long

Mine is pulling 1.4 bar held, WOT in 4/5 and 6th gears which gradually reduces to about 1 bar as you approach the limiter.

The difference in power is very noticeable. You don't really notice the boost coming in because it pulls very hard from 2000 rpm.

I think the exhaust is very quiet and you can only really notice it when stationary. Sounds a bit louder with the window down, but certainly nothing like the old PPP exhaust. There again, I didn't have a Custom Built back box like Tony.

I drive 40k miles per year in my STI, so quite value my warranty.

Having had many warranty claims on a previous car, which must have cost IM several thousand pounds, I am quite happy to keep my warranty, especially in light of IM's recent stance on the matter.

£2k for the PPP doesn't take into account added value to the car come resale time either.

I really would also like to see exactly what could be done for £2k elsewhere, and what the real world difference to the PPP would be.

Someone try a PE full decat and Ecutek remap, that's about £2k, and we will compare notes. My feeling is it wouldn't get me to work any quicker........

2k for a crumby exhaust system and a remap come on your having a laugh.
Does this PPP pack include a live map whilst your driving it or is it just a superchip style one size fits all type job. Either way its a rip off.
