It had a guy looking to sell his 3 series BMW for something quicker, so they went to Warrenders and he drove the New Import Type R Integra, a STi V6, and a Evo6.

He drove all three, the STi was standard as was the Type R, but the Evo was pushing out about 300+bhp, and guess what he chose, yup the muppet went for the EVO.

I drove a 300FQ EVO7 and still went for the standard STi 7, much better engine noise and much more refined, and of course, 6 speed!, just IMO though

Cool

The next car I am thinking of is an Evo VI.

Both scoobs and Evos have their own merits and downfalls, just because we favour scoobs, doesn't mean that everyone else should too

The only thing I will really miss is the beautiful sound of the flat four. The Evo just doesn't have a special sound like the scoob.

I used to have an old Rover SD1 V8 (before it rusted away underneath me) and to be totally honest.... if i didn't know i was in a scoob i could swear the engine note was from the rover. Not really a bad thing considering the TVR 350i with the same rover engine is the most gorgeous sounding car i've ever heard. To say i was pleasantly surprised when i first heard the scoob used in anger would be an understatement.

Marty_T3,
I too had a Rover V8. I was wondering why my WRX sounded so familiar. Glad you reminded me. I had the twin plenum Vitesse model bored to 3.9L and tuned by RoverPart, pushing out 420BHP. I believe the standard car was about 190bhp. Those engines almost always outlasted the car and found their way into boats, drag cars etc.

scunnered,

You're right about the engines. I had my rover sitting for about 6 months after it "fell apart". Someone came to buy it for the engine so i charged tha battery. The thing started on the first turn of the key. Had it for 18 months with over 140k miles on the clock and all i ever had to do to keep it running was replace the 8 quid rotor arm.

Body on the other hand was different.

2 new wings, 1 new door, 1 new rear bumper, 2 new rear shocks and a new set of front brake lines. Would still have the car now if bits didn't fall off it when leaves landed on it.
