WRX auto
#1
Hi,
Not an owner YET. I'm after buying an Impreza, but it MUST be an auto, (due to disability), have been searching the net but not having much luck.
Does anyone know any dealers, that have any / regulaly get any.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Sorry Steve, but to my knowledge, they don't make an auto WRX. You can get an auto impreza, but it is the non turbo 2 litre.
The only 2litre turbo 4*4 type performance car I can think of with an auto is the evo-7 GTA - a alightly detuned engine (260bhp IIRC) and a little more refiniement than a "normal" EVO, with the auto box. This is a first for this board - someone suggesting an EVO without trying to bait anybody else!
Other options? Don't know if you can get a Legacy GTB/RSK with auto (twin turbo 280bhp ish), I know you can get Mitsu Galant VR4 (twin turbo 2.5 V6, 280bhp ish). Other than that, there are things like Volvo T4/T5/T6, some reasonably lively Audis, BMWs etc, many of which can be automatic (but I am no expert on these things)

Legacy does come in auto (semi automatic tiptronic box so you can swap cogs without a clutch, best of both worlds)
This one's a touch pricey but it's only done 4,000 miles.
They're turning up on autotrader for lot teens at the moment.
Mail me if you want more info.

I was going to mention that i`d seen one there too.
The Auto impreza is a bit of a weapon! they were mostly 5dr models, very few come to the uk. Beleive it or not, it is quicker than a manual due to a lack of turbo lag between gear changes.
Have you considered a Legacy GT Twin Turbo?? 90% of these are Auto`s, and again a rapid machine.

Perhaps I should rephrase my original post - they don't make a UK Auto WRX. Obviously there are some issues with imports (insurance etc), but if by doing that you can get the car you want, great.

The original JDM WRX saloon has an auto option, but it is only available on early cars.
Auto isn't available in UK WRX, but it is available in Oz & JDM versions (JDM has tiptronic shift). If IM chose to import an auto WRX, they can do so easily as the Oz car is to export (i.e. Euro/UK) spec.
