AFAIK...

HP is the theoretical horse power. BHP is the horse power after any losses.

"horsepower" was an outdated system based on a complex formula involving bore, stroke and number of cylinders. it was devised for taxation purposes and led to lots of long-stroke engines being developed to get round this.

Brake horsepower is the measured output of an engine in terms of actual power. 1 bhp=750 watts.

Cant see why they use Horse Power anyway :confused, its not like you have "the worlds strongest horse" tv shows or when you see one you dont say "corr that horse looks strong" do you, when was the last time you saw a couple of horses having a hoof wrestle?

I reckon they should call it "Geoff Capes power" or "Giant Haystacks oompff"

You certainly do. I sentence you to be punished until we're both knackered and there's no icecream left.
