What is it about a scooby?

Before I had my RB5 I had an E36 M3 Evo for about 2 years.
In the time I had the M3 I honestly cant remember anyone actually trying it on.
Since I got the RB5 I have had nothing but people trying it on, from Ford Fiesta's to Saab 900's. All trying to egg me on.
Not that I take the bait..............well sometimes !

Jealousy and the need to try and prove that their repmobile/baby carrier/max power(less) car can cut the mustard.
I get longing looks from people who obviously took the "sensible" option but in their hearts really wanted to buy one.
And actually, I get lot's of excited waves from kids in the back seats of cars who obviously recognise a good car !!

To be honest I've had quite a few kids come up and say nice car etc.
Suppose its the Play Station generation.
I do like the fact the other Scooby drivers wave when they see you (well most of the time), never, ever, got that in the M3.

i have to agree... I used to drive a modded red S13 200sx which looked a lot smarter, faster and more expensive than the stock blue scoob wagon i have now. For some reason i get just as much interest in the scoob than i did with the 200. Just the scoobs reputation that causes all the interest i guess.
I gotta admit to trying to bait a few scoobs in the 200 just to see if i could catch them.

Paul got it right, DR has hit the nail on the head.
Only last night had some sad tw@t in a peugeot 205 gti try and bait me on the way home but he nearly slammed into the side of me
At this point i became irrate and cursed at him. he and his dozy aeroplane blonde bint of a girlfriend who were laughing then tried to race, i just pulled back into the inside lane and let them race on.
Caught up to them at a roundabout and wound the window down and explained to him that he ever tried that stunt again in his pop fart pram, i would rip his arshole out and shove down his bints throat.
I then apologised as i could see that someone had already done it for him.
Seriously, i wonder if he would have done the same if i'd have had the wife and kids in the car.....Scary!!!!!

People do seem to try and bait you into racing, I suppose it's because the Scooby is seen as the 'benchmark' as to how fast their own car is.

I like to get my toe down but I refuse to race idiots in little cars. It's begining to wind me up more and more because I'm getting cut up by the tw*ts, obviously thinking that i'll start racing to prove something. I don't need to prove anything. I already know my car is the dogs b*llox!! Anyway, it's about time they realised that all Impreza drivers aren't single blokes. I'm a woman and usually have my 4 year old son in the car. They need to get a life and think of the consequences of f*cking around on the road and with other peoples lives. I'm off, getting majorly wound up now!!!!

Nice to know I've posted something which is right for a change
I've had a couple of funny incidents where some child came up to me and asked if the car was "one of those MG's mate?" and another group of "Max Power youths" asked if I could do a wheel spin away from the estate for them.....
But apart from that, no real trouble (yet, so touch wood)
Usually I pull in when the idiot Mondeo/ Vectra brigade fly up my **** at 120mph (well, I'm only doing 70 )
I enjoy the odd tussle and cat'n'mouse with a fellow Scoob owners though, it's just 'different' from other drivers. There's mutual respect and admiration for each others machines which you just don't get anywhere else (can you really see this happening with Focus drivers!)
I've had my Scooby since June and haven't looked back since.
Glad to be a part of it all.

I have had the same with people in their 1.4 litre or something actually start revving the hell out of their engine just because I am beside them. Also other people cutting you up deliberately or not moving aside in the fast lane on motorways because their clapped out old cavalair is obviously way faster!
I had got use to the attention it was getting here until I took it back to Ireland for a week, and it turned heads wherever I went. School kids would just stop and stare. I hadn't seen family for over 5 years and they more interested in seeing the car when I turned up.

Saxoboy, JohnFelsted used to be the king of that one. He used to have a "lowly" sport and I think it's fair to say that john can drive "quite well". Enough to shame many people
It always makes me chuckle when kids give you the thumbs up

I've heard that about the great Mr Felsted I was just having a dig at Devil cause we compared our cars for straight line and mines was faster!!! Turned out his intercooler was fooked but it was a victory nevertheless

Maybe they dont want to race us all. I remember in my boy racing days trying to push various scoobies etc into just gunning it so i could see how fast they were, knowing full well they would dissappear in front. After all i wouldnt have had one if they were slow. I wanted to see how they performed with my own eyes.

It's no just the owners of other cars. I've had several divots in Scoobs recently who are driving like grannies until I want to overtake, then of course they nail the throttle. The worst ones seem to be 98s and 99s with no mods, and the wife in the car, who just take offence at being 'done' by a P1.
Once I've gone past they then settle back down to their pedestrian speeds again

Its a pretty agressive looking car, so other people always wanna test that.
Driving anywhere near town can be like being a 'Great white Shark' you soon atract a small group of wee puny dead skin munchers who cruise along in your wake.
