I have been tempted to go and meet up with other Impreza drivers locally and start socialising or whatever they get up to!! Anyway, I thought it would be good to bring me fella along with me as he drives (and I suppose, part owns!!) the car!! I've been nagging (as us women do!) about it and although he's up for it as well, he's cast a shadow of doubt in my mind!! He pointed out that our car will probably be the oldest, slowest and crappiest looking one there and do I really wanna be shamed?! (also, he knows I'll start on bout changing it and we have only had it a month!!) It's a 95 WRX Sports Wagon Jap import.
NOW, I love my Scooby but he's right. It is old. Don't wanna make myself look a total prat. What do you think?! Should I be ashamed around other Scooby's or what?! (I'm bracing myself for some cutting reamrks!)

Don't be silly!
e.g. at the Hants meet - everything from a MY94 to brand new Sti7, Japannesse, UK, Silver, green, blue, black, (purple!),modded, extremely modded, standard - all sorts I went to 2 months in the Corsa whilst ours was in for repairs...
There is however some very nice looking Nott's motors, and you're bound to come out with a huge list of mods - but then everyone will tell you, that's totally normal
Get down there and have fun!

If other supposed enthusiasts look down on you because of the age of your car, it is them that should be ashamed, not you. You have a car which does pretty much everything a newer one does but was much cheaper. So who's the mug?
Having said that, my car is much newer than yours so there!

Yes you should be ashamed. You shouldn't have asked your man to come along, you must go on your own so you can meet us lads here.
What was the question again?

That's really Silly! I turn up in my MY99 Sport - yes SPORT!!!! I never feel ashamed. I think my car is great but I can't afford to run anything more (mostly insurance) so I'm quite happy with what I've got for time being.
Even with just 124 bhp, it doesn't put up a bad show when I went on a run with Cambridge Scoobynet lot earlier in the summer. A few of the turbo owners were quite (un )pleasantly surprised!
Ben.

hey red-dog104 it's the newer shape (you know the lardy one) that has to prove it's self, not the older, but sleeker & faster classics

Are you comming to the Nottm mini meet @ the Goose tonight then? (see midlands section)
Most of the cars that turn up are "classics" in fact we are one of the few with a MY01. No need to be assamed - yours will be faster than mine I expect, being an import. Hope to see you later.

I went on a scoobynet meeting in the hosing rain through the twisties in my VTS. Farmer would watch as 6 lovely scoobs burbled through the countryside and then the little VTS went whizzing by at the back
Doesn't matter what you drive its all about the enthusiasm for cars really

Red_Dog just turn up and meet some of the locals - you can go straight back home again afterwards if you feel like it. Go on you know you want to!

I went to a meet in our GREEN (yes, thats green - not that common as muck peasent blue they had left over at the factory from the Justy :P - and yes its got gold wheels, but it isnt an auto )my96 4 door and as I lined up with everyone at the MacD's all I thought was...oh God it looks so ORDINARY!
Apart from that it was great. No one else said it looked pants and I met the previous owner who'd been seduced by the dark blue side...
Get yourself there! It'll be a laugh

MY 96 green UK, no engine mods... <rant>I hate insurance companies... £95 for 6 months of back box and centre section... GRRR</rant>
Yes, it's been the oldest car at every meet I've been to. Doesn't look too out of place, and I've always been made to feel welcome.

Red Dog, get over to the Goose tonight! If you're lucky, Salsa might even demo his neons...
I was just as unsure the first time I went to a meet, but you are soon made to feel welcome.
