I like to consider myself as a polite, friendly person! Acknowledge other Impreza owners regardless what type they are driving! But I'm starting to wonder now why I bother!! There seems to be an overwhelming amount of middle aged, grumpy old gits in my area that look at me like i'm a complete loony if I put my hand up or flash (my lights obviously)!! I'm not sure if it's because they put themselves in a higher class as they are driving a newer car or if they just don't get it!!

Anyone else had this prob?! Should I become ingnorant or keep smiling and hope to convert them?!

Smile and give them the finger at the same time. Covers you all ways then.

PS I wave.

I wouldn't worry mate - it's a much wider community now and hence the "Blimey, there's a Scoob" factor has really diluted no end.

The new scoob features much more these days on company car wish lists so It's grumpy old gits who get 'em not neccessarily Scooby fans.

So they will think theres a prob if you give them a flash

I know exactly how you feel. I often cant be bothered to wave these days and then feel really guilty if someone waves at me!

I agree that some of the problem is that many of these are now company cars, not enthusiast owned. Having said that, I waved at a fellow RB5 owner last week and he looked at me as if I was a martian. To55er.

As far as I'm concerned, if I choose to wave at someone who owns a bugeye (as opposed to a REAL Impreza) they should be grateful that I consider them to be worthy of my acknowledgement!

Its probably neither snobbery or ignorance, more like they cant be arsed as every other car you meet now seems to be a scoob. You dont see mondeo drivers waving at each other now do you??

LOL - does that apply to us Audi drivers as well Tazman?

Incidentally my boy asked where "the man was" who "talked about Thomas" this morning

I nearly rang you so he could ask himself. Hurry back, axe is going rusty again

Cool

I used to wave at 900 turbo owners but i realised that they cant wave back as most of them are smoking a pipe in one hand, steerung wheel in the other.
I have a job to wave now as 230bhp through the front wheels is a bit of a handfull!!!!

Who would have one of them as a co. car! The CO2 rating must be huge!

I had a rant about this the other week. Still never had a 'New Age' driver wave back at me.

Just got me an MY02 bug eye WRX couple week backs and love it!

I have tried to wave at all the scoobs in my area when I pass them, classic or new age (not that many around of either I have to say ). Only response I have had so far was from a fellow new age driver.... Don't know what that means?? Are classic drivers too snobby to wave at us new agers cause they don't class it as a proper impreza?

Just a thought..

My argument was the direct opposite - the new age scooby is supposed to have extra refinement & stuff to push it towards the posher end of the market so i thought they were all 'too good' to wave at me.

come to think of it, every time i see a scoob, you can tell, (given enough time between passing) if they are a subaru DRIVER or just a subaru CUSTOMER. ie: why did they buy the car? you can usually tell this a mile off. the people that wave back are in my experience, scoob DRIVERS!!!. those that do not just look, well, sort of, bewildered and confused!

I'm pretty much at the stage were I've given up on other Scooby drivers. The last three (P1, White STi 5dr and silver WRX) I've seen have either completely ignored me or begrudgingly motioned their hand a millimeter or two!

Can't figure out why this is the case? Perhaps it's time to finally get to a meet to see what Scooby enthusiasts are really like, as there appears to be little enthusiasm shown on the road anymore.

DP.

DP,

as subarus sell more and more, then of course the response you are looking for will diminish.

however the underground continues.

keep it real for me and all other scooby drivers.

KEEP WAVING!

big up

Perhaps Subaru should put a sticker on the inside of the drivers door similar to the Caution - Stopping the Engine warning info, instructing every new owner on the etiquette of waving to other scoobs...just a thought :-)

Gareth

PS I always wave !...reserve the flashing to warn of accident prevention patrols ;-)

Depends if its a peasant in an Import whether I wave or not - as the imports are not REAL Imprezas like the UK cars

Although I do wave without prompting. Some people I could imagine see it as a bit sad. I even caught myself getting upset when someone did not wave back. Life is to short to worry about such things. So I`ll wave back but often I only woken up to the fact someone has waved when they have gone past.

Quite a few Scoobs in my area.

No one _ever_ waves or flahes but for one occassion an real old guy with his Mrs who totally caught me off guard.

I just dont bother anymore. Grumpy ba$tards look at me, i look at them, no one waves, we pass. Thats it.

I actually wonder if you lot dont really imagine it!
