I dont know if anyone can help me on this one... I think i must have overfilled my engine oil a wee bit too much as coming into Bristol yesterday the car filled up with the wonderful smell of burning engine oil off the exhaust. By the time i stopped there was no oil in the sump and an awful lot coating the underneath of the car. I havent refilled it yet but I havent located where the oil has come out from. Its somewhere underneath at the front but I cant pin point it. Does anyone have ideas whether it is simply blowing out of the breather or is it something a bit more serious.

 

Sounds like a loose oil filter.

 

Mmmm i looked at that but its seems pretty tight...

(I was due an oil change soon but...)
