Bigger Prodrive spoiler, dials have wr sport on them (i think) and an extra 30odd bhp
The WR's are fitted with the Prodrive Performance Pack (should have a certificate to prove), id check out www.sidc.co.uk as they should have some info on the car

Thanks. I just got one and it seems to have a couple of mods on it like boost gauge and indicators, but I wanted to know how I tell if the ECU has been changed. Seemed strange to fit a boost gauge to a standard car

Does anyone know if you can Still Get the WR package done if you are the original owner ??????? this seems a better alternative than the PPP package although tecnically it is the same []

when i got my rb5 (May this year)from wilson of chadwell heath, i had a choice between a non wr and wr version.

i asked if i got the non wr version could i get the wr package fitted at a later date and he told me i could.

so i went for the non wr version (to get used the car and its handling - ready to notice the upgrades at a laterdate )

he told me it was £2000 fitted inc vat for the spolier, exhaust system, chip and upgraded pipework and as an optional extra the prodrive suspension kit

I find that hard to believe, that you can just get the PPP and spoiler fitted
The genuine WR Sports have it on the rev counter. Some people just put a PPP on their standard one and call it a WR Sport its not.
The WR Sports come with a Prodrive certificate especially for the RB5's stating it has a PPP.
I used to own one of these ( WR Sport ) and they are cracking cars.

The boost guage is not part of the WR package.
Regarding fitting WR package at a later date, I dont see any reason why not as the WR package was fitted after registration anyway, to get around type approval (I think). Then again, the difference in value between a WR RB5 and an RB5 with PPP is not going to be much so just enjoy it anyway, whatever it turns it out to be.

I had a similar dilemma when I got mine a couple of months ago. I knew it had the PPP but it has the non WR rear spoiler. Turns out that the original owner preferred the standard spoiler so had this instead, but it is still a genuine WR version, complete with RB5 PPP certificate.

You forget the reason people went for the WR sport pack was it cheaper when the RB5 was new ie. they did a good deal for the spoiler and PPP and clocks. You can buy all the bits (exzcept for the clock IFAIK) but it would now cost you more. The PPP is about 2K and the prodrive spoiler about 500-700 I think.

So yes you can buy them after and yes it will cost your more. If theres a non WR sport going for £3000 less then it worth it.

Gents,

was not sure about the rear spoiler when I bought the car new (if it had been the same as the 22b it might have been different)and the 98 PPP had not been very well received on this board, so I ordered the standard car. I will ring prodrive to see if the WR package is still available for the RB5, unless Mike wood is about !

Cheers

When I bought my non-prodrive RB5 3 weeks ago was told by dealer that I could still have the full PPP package fitted no worries. I presumed that was with the spoiler included - guess I could be wrong

Cool

You can buy the prodrive pack but you cant get the rev
counter, why not just get a prodrive one in the first place?
It will never be an orignal prodrive one if you get one.
As i beleive there are only 150 prodrives anyway.
cheers mouse

Mine is not a prodrive WR and mine does have the Original prodrive spoiler on as well as a WR sport prodrive "Stamped & numbered" backbox. Have looked at the pricing and listing for the PPP and it does include the spoiler. Mine does not have the WRSport written on the dials. Goes better than a WR version (minimal mods) if you ask a few of the members on here

Hope this helps

Thumbs up

m18use, I bought my non-prodrive one because to me it was the better option. My car was mint & extremely low mileage. The prodrive-equipped cars (if you could get hold of one) at the time seemed to all have three or four times the mileage of mine. I needed a car that I could happily own for 5 years and at the end, still not have mega-mileage on it. This was the best start.

When the warranty runs out then I can decide how I want to modify it. PPP is just one of the options available to me.

You can get most of the parts from a Scooby dealer apart from the Rev counter and the back box.

The only way you can get one of these is if you know an original RB5 WRsport owner and he's kind enough to let you use his chassis number.

Figures vary on the Wrsports, at a recent PE day there were 3 of us running one guy got 241bhp with 235 lbs torque, I got 250bhp with 241 lbs and the other guy got 248 bhp with 240lbs torque.

I also had the option of a non WRSPORT version when I bought mine but figured what was the point in the non wr version.

aftermarket PPP consists of.

prodrive full exhaust system
ppp ecu
intercooler pipes

i got a price for the full zorst system it was about £900 so work it out for your selves just how much (£1100) they charge up for this PPP upgrade!!!

prodrive boot spoiler works out £850 painted and fitted less discount if ur a SIDC member.

i tried to get this through my mate who works for Subaru, he could get this for trade cost at £590, then painting about £70

and by the way, the RRP of the standard version was £24,995 where as the wr version was £27,995 (which didnt include the prodrive suspension upgrade either)

so u can see the 'aftermarket' PPP upgrade cost marginally less, only difference is that u dont get the rev counter stickered.

i'm not sure if u get a certificate to say u have had the PPP carried out

My local dealer told me that the ppp does consist of the Spolier and the package was about £2000 all in. So i'll believe what they say, as they are a main dealer after all.

If you can get the PPP and Prodrive WR spoiler for 2K go for it as the PPP is normally 2K on its own.

The MY99 PPP consisted of intercooler piping, decat centre section with resonator, prodrive back box and replacement ECU. Sounds like they are doing you a good deal.

That's correct. Every normal gear-change in any other car I try now is just sooo long.

I had a prodrive quick shift on my 98 is was okay but meant you had to be ultra precise with gear changes. My MY00 RA has a longer change but they reduced them anyway so it isnt a great deal IMHO.

I have a non-prodrive RB5. Only mods are scoobysport de-cat centre pipe and backbox and a GGR induction kit. went to PE beginning of the year and hit 261bhp with 233 torque.
