nice one!!
got trackstar on mine, hope i never need it.
just out of curiosity, if u have a car nicked, does it go on some sort of register when its recovered, like hpi, and does this affect future value?

Well done doesn't somehow seem appropriate...
However it does show that a tracking device is worth it's weight in gold (and then some ) if you have a desiarable, expensive car.

Excellent news! Put up earlier post to see if anyone had experience on tracking devices delivering the goods! Now would like to add remote control driver's seat spike, any suppliers out there.

My 22B theft was thwarted by 2k worth of anti theft device.

The police know who had most recently threatend to steal it and await to catch him and his family in due course.

Does make you curse the internet scene sometimes though

i WWW think it is a disgrace PERFUMA that some COM of these people try to sneak a url into their responses. i mean, it's not as if they are doing a 25% DISCOUNT OF YOUR NEXT ORDER is it?

Go on then, how long before I'm rumbled - I'll give it 5 minutes :-)

Turbo Spudgun,

I gather the Police only class a car as "missing" for 4 weeks (maybe 6), after which it is classed as stolen and then probably reported to HPI etc.

good news puff, Navtrack certainly paid for itself in your example.

From my pov reading your story, the only disapointing part was that you had to arrange someone to go watch the car so it didnt vanish again etc.
Other tracking firms send a security firm to watch it which may be easier if its late at night etc.

Still was a good result so who gives a damn!

Puff, have dropped you an email about my own navtrack.

So how much do these devices cost?

I know - I could go to the web site and find out myself, but I would like to have some different system prices to compare:
NAVTRAK / Trackstar / Tracker etc..

Anyone give me an idea what you get and how much each costs?

Didn't mean to make this into a "Navtrak" thread more the celebration of a toe-rag getting nicked ( ) but it did the job it's meant to do & that's the one fitted in this example. I'm sure all the other devices work too & I think that anything that can do, Navtrak, Trackstar, Scoop, Tracker, whatever, should be thought about for fitting in your pride & joys. Anything that keeps these scum off the street and ultimately reduces our insurance bill (overall through the reduction of theft) is a good thing.

pt

We only sent our chap round 'cos my boss had had him cruisin' the area anyway!

Sorry to put a damper on the joy, but lets be honest here... what are the chances of the criminal justice system punishing this car thief? not much because after all, he's not a real criminal, unlike those who drive at 35mph in a 30 zone who actually own the car...

I'd just like to point out that Navtrak have infact paid for a banner to help support scoobynet.

Just before they get a ribbing.

Although it *is* up for renewal puff??

Question

My biggest problem with ALL these sytems is whether i actually WANT my car back!

I suppose if, like your incident it was stolen obviously to be exported/whatever then okay - i want it back.

But if some little ****** nicks it, thrashes the boll**** off it for an evening, wipes it down a wall and does god knows what damage to the engine and box then he can keep it, or at least have the courtesy to fire it.

Best bet is still to stop em getting it in the first place (if possible!)

I dread to think of how I would feel if someone nicked my car, which I clean, when it's clean already. They say an Englishmans castle is his home (hope I got that the right way round), well my scooby is my kennel, keep out.
